Where There's Smoke There's Barbecue
Prismark1011 June 2017
The first episode I rewatched after the death of Peter Sallis. With Jane Freeman also passing away a few weeks earlier there is no cast regular from the first series of Last of the Summer Wine still alive.

Watching this episode you see his character of Clegg, a genial and gentle soul viewing the world with both cynicism and fear but still willing to partake in a bit of adventure and end up buying a portable barbecue sold to him by Auntie Wainwright.

Not for him stopping random strangers such as a marketing guy and boring them with war stories which Foggy does or harassing Ivy or Nora which Compo does and then trying to cadge a sticky bun from Foggy. Clegg was the glue that kept the trio going.

The portable barbecue turns out to be a bit faulty, even Wesley has trouble trying to fix it without it exploding. Although why the trio decide to by sausages and buns from Ivy and not the supermarket is anyone's guess.

Without doubt, if it was not for Peter Sallis trying to keep the peace between two co-stars with polar opposite political differences, I doubt the show would had continued until 2010.

Farewell Peter and leave some cheese out for Gromit.
