Nosy Nora, surely not..

Pearl's curiosity arises when she spots an article in the newspaper, she assumes Howard and Marina are exchanging messages, Alvin makes efforts to make Nora jealous.

Another funny episode in this series, I enjoyed it, some very funny moments once again, there's something about a man in drag that still makes us chuckle, Billy looked truly remarkable, it was funny. Lots of disguises, lots of mistaken identity, and plenty of jokes surrounding Nora Batty being nosy.

Alvin continues to impress, he's the closest we ever got to a Compo type character, his scenes with Nora Batty are terrific.

I notice the format of the show has changed somewhat, the always appearing random male actor format has very much stopped, most is being made out of the available cast, and this run of episodes is better than the last two series.

Funny, 7/10.

Barry in Danger from Reading and Aunt Jessie

An episode where Roy Clarke deftly gives his large cast something to do.

He even manages to recall vintage episodes. The old boys go rolling down an hillside inside some barrels for no reason whatsoever.

Alvin decides to make Nora Batty jealous as he is seen walking in town with a blonde lady. She was his cousin but he is not telling Nora that.

Instead Alvin gets Billy to go in drag to keep the pretence up. What will Robin Hood say?

Barry manages to arouse the amorous intentions of lonely librarian Miss Davenport. He then tries to avoid meeting his Aunt Jessie.

Pearl and Nelly browse the classified ads in the local newspaper. Pearl is convinced that Howard has been passing on messages to Marina through them. Pearl and Nelly are in for a surprise when they go to the pub and encounter Mrs Golden Boy.

There were a few good barbs from Clegg in this episode. He replies the butler did it when Truly gazing at the Yorkshire Dales asks where did it all come from.
