7 December 2009 1:46 AM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

Having take a jab at blood-sucking being in 1994's "Interview with the Vampire", Brad Pitt is going back to work on another vampire movie, but this time he will be more than an actor. The Hollywood Reporter has recently come out with the story that the 45-year-old will serve as the producer of a Dracula feature project titled "Vlad".

He will be producing with Dede Gardner via his and Gardner's Plan B Entertainment production shingle. For the project, he'll team up with the production company behind the success of another vampire movie, "Twilight" and its sequel "The Twilight Saga's New Moon", Summit Entertainment. It isn't clear whether Pitt will take a part as cast member in the movie or not.

"Vlad" centers on the story of Dracula as a young prince. Known as Vlad the Impaler, he is the man behind the Dracula myth. The script was provided by actor Charlie Hunnam. …

New Extended Trailer for ‘The Killer Inside Me’

6 November 2009 2:30 PM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Casey Affleck has been known to take some pretty intense roles as of late. His first being the role of Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James and then his work on his brother’s project, Gone Baby Gone. It looks like Affleck is going to step it up once again as Sheriff Lou Ford in the ultra-violent The Killer Inside Me.

The film is based on the novel by Jim Thompson, who also wrote the novels films such as The Grifters and The Getaway were adapted from. The original 1976 film starred Stacey Keach, who took on the role that Affleck is now running with.

The extended trailer shows off some of the intense moments (hopefully not all) from the film, such as some raunchy aggressive sex with both Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, as well as a violent murder of one of them. This may just be the …

Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me Trailer Starring Casey Affleck

6 November 2009 11:34 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

I'm not always eager to post promo and sales trailers for movies when they find their way online because they're usually too long, rough around the edges, and quick to be pulled off the web anyway. They're not intended for the general public, and shouldn't really be judged as such. In this case, however, we've got our first look at what appears to be a very promising flick, and with all the talent involved I simply couldn't help posting about it. Michael Winterbottom's most recent film Genova didn't get a ton of attention at Tiff last year, but his previous two films, A Mighty Heart and The Road to Guantanamo both made my top 10 lists in their respective years. This time around he's teaming up with Casey Affleck, who is riding a wave of critical acclaim from outstanding performances in Gone Baby Bone and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, …

'The Killer Inside Me' Unleashes Extended Promo Trailer

5 November 2009 8:54 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

An extended look at "The Killer Inside Me" has come out in the form of a promo trailer. Almost six minutes in running time, the sneak peek unravels what this drama thriller is all about and gives out a look at Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson in characters. Some footage in the trailer are quite Nsfw.

In the movie set in the 1950s, Affleck stars as Lou Ford, a West Texas deputy sheriff who spirals downward. Starting as a bored small-town cop, he slowly turns into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer trying to cement his innocence when the evidence looks suspicious. Alba and Hudson, in the meantime, portray a prostitute and Lou's girlfriend respectively.

"The Killer Inside Me" is based on Jim Thompson's 1952 novel which is described as "one of the most blistering and uncompromising crime novels ever written." Michael Winterbottom, the director of "A Mighty Heart", takes on the helming part, …

Russian Trailer for Angelina Jolie's Spy Flick 'Salt'

3 November 2009 12:06 PM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Since Angelina Jolie is playing a spy thought to be a double agent in Salt, it's appropriate that the first trailer for the film is in Russian. Actually, as overdubs go, this isn't that bad, plus you get to see some of the action scenes Jolie does so well. Also, as an added bonus, who knew the word "Salt" looked so much like "Coat" in Cyrillic?

So, Ok, down to business: Angelina's on the run, dyeing her hair, jumping off moving trains, bending bullets, and all the rest. I would like to suggest to Hollywood that as good as Jolie is at all this stuff, you really do need to find a new action heroine at her level. I'd like to see her do more of the challenging roles like A Mighty Heart and Changeling, which she has also proven she can knock out of the park.

As we said yesterday about Prince of Persia, …

Irrfan Khan in 'Indian Summer' with Cate Blanchett and Hugh Grant

13 October 2009 2:41 PM, PDT | The Bollywood Ticket | See recent The Bollywood Ticket news »

Awarding-winning Indian actor Irrfan Khan may be playing India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, alongside British actor Hugh Grant as India's last British viceroy, Lord Mountbatten, and Australian actress Cate Blanchett as the viceroy's wife, Edwina, in an upcoming film called 'Indian Summer,' about the last days of British rule in India—and the supposed affair between Nehru and Edwina.

The film is based on the book 'Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire,' by British historian Alex von Tunzelmann, which chronicles the transition of power from Mountbatten to Nehru in the summer of 1947.

The Indian government has reportedly given its approval to the film on certain conditions, including the removal from the script of some intimate scenes between Nehru and Edwina and a statement by the filmmakers that the picture is a work of fiction.

Filming is scheduled to begin …

Director Roland Emmerich Talks Adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy as well as His Movie About William Shakespeare?!

9 October 2009 11:09 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I’m currently in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where I just got out of the press conference for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming disaster flick “2012″ during which he spoke about two of his upcoming projects.  One is his plan to adapt Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” which we first heard about in January of this year.

But the other film and the one he plans to start shooting this March came as a major shock to me because the movie is about William Shakespeare.  For those that don’t know Emmerich also directed “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow” so this is a major shift for him.  The film is called “Anonymous” and he planned to make the movie back in 2005 under the name “Soul of the Age”.  This new script is by John Orloff (”Band of Brothers”, “A Mighty Heart”) and Emmerich says it’s his next movie. Hit the jump for details on both films. …

Girls on Film: Men Writing Women

13 July 2009 8:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

There's no way around it. Unless a screenwriter is writing about one-minute section of life where other sexes do not enter, or a world filled with one sex that practices asexual reproduction, men are going to write about women, and women are going to write about men. But can they do so successfully?

This question has been argued for years, flowing through discussions about literature and female-centric moving media. Regardless of theme, men rule the typewriter, and I would venture to say that it's most pronounced in Hollywood. It is palpable every time the screenwriter credit pops on the screen, when Oscar nominees are announced, and even on the picket line, as USA Today pointed out back in 2008. (A post which also notes that women make up less than a quarter of the screenwriters in Hollywood.)

That doesn't mean there aren't female leads hitting the big screen. From Sex and …

The Gist: Written by Malick, this is about the evolution of a young man in 1950s Midwest to his disillusioned adult adulthood. We trace the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous to the child. He sees as his mother does, with the eyes of his soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, where the father (Brad Pitt) tries to teach his son the world's way, of putting oneself first. Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, …

Paramount Vantage: Three Years of Highs and Lows

2 July 2009 | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

- Paramount Vantage we hardly knew you. From an outsiders point of view, you'd think that winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for 2007's No Country for Old Men and winning Best Actor and Best Cinematography for There Will Be Blood would be a sign of better things to come, but at the end of the day, it's not the number of Oscars you win, but the plus and minus on the balance sheet. Vantage sealed its fate way before Guy Stodel came on board and even when Amy Israel was in charge the returns weren't in the plus. Paramount Pictures might be currently looking to merge and cut expenses, but it was a continual set of major faux-pas that has ultimately lead to the demise of the indie unit. When they did away with the Paramount Classics label, they got rid of pick-ups with very little returns …

Brangelina really are the gift that keeps on giving. Because of security concerns the A Mighty Heart crew had to move the production from Karachi to Pune, India.
