Over the course of its 12-year-old run, The Big Bang Theory has never lost sight of any of the four main characters with each and every single one of them being extremely different from the others.
Apart from omnipresent Sheldon and Leonard, the show also featured their long-time close friend Howard Wolowitz portrayed by Simon Helberg throughout the whole series.
While now everyone can hardly imagine any other actor in this role, the show’s creators initially had someone else in mind — and Helberg could’ve lost his iconic character to his actual co-star.
As Jessica Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, suggests, Howard Wolowitz’s part was initially offered to Kevin Sussman — he later on ended up staying in the show and portraying Stuart Bloom, a comic book store owner.

It’s often said it’s not the awards people remember, but the movies themselves. And though America Ferrera may not have won Best Supporting Actress tonight for Barbie, her speech on behalf of all hardworking women in the feature film about the Mattel doll is one for the eras.
“It’s been amazing — to be part of something that hits the culture the way that it did. And it made history, and to have been the human and to deliver Gloria’s journey and to have that be so embraced by the audience, is so wonderful. It speaks to people’s desires to be seen and to hear the truth or what feels true to them,” Ferrera told Deadline’s Antonia Blyth on the Oscar red carpet tonight.
Asked whether she was up for Barbie 2, Ferrera said, “Yeah, we’ll see” then trying to play coy went “Um, bye!

Though specific titles covered by that agreement have not been finalized, Primedia’s catalog includes hit series “The Masked Singer,” “Deal or No Deal” and “Ready Steady Cook.”
“For us, it’s a natural progression,” said Known Associates chairperson Joel Phiri at the Joburg Film Festival. “We’re bringing our production expertise, and it’s keeping in line with our acquiring [production services giant] Moonlighting [in 2022]. Hollywood’s biggest names have been looking their best with their fashion choices throughout this awards season. The actors at the 2024 SAG Awards definitely exemplified how they have lit up red carpets in spectacular fashion. Some amazing outfits were on display, such as Margot Robbie’s black & pink ensemble. However, Brie Larson was the one who truly stole the show.
When the Captain Marvel actress arrived at the event wearing a flowing peach dress that flaunted her toned abs, even other leading ladies in the industry were in awe of her jaw-dropping ensemble. Although her appearance was impressive, we were particularly intrigued by the remarks left by her fellow stars.

America Ferrera, known for her role in Ugly Betty, and Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley couldn’t help but swoon over Larson’s killer looks (and abs).

By her own admission, America Ferrera was not a Barbie girl growing up. But now, two decades into her career, Ferrera will be forever bathed in the warm pink glow of the Mattel brand thanks to her role in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Ferrera plays a central role as Gloria, a Mattel employee dealing with an existential crisis in the real world, that sends a ripple into Barbie Land and awakens Margot Robbie’s stereotypical Barbie. After Barbie’s female utopia falls prey to a patriarchal coup spearheaded by Ryan Gosling’s Ken, Gloria steps in to set things right. Here, Ferrera reflects on womanhood, her career and making her directorial debut.
Deadline: Post-Barbie, have you been able to fully wrap your mind around being a part of the girlhood lexicon forever? But of course, you have been since Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Ugly Betty.

America Ferrera may be an Oscar-nominated actress now, but that doesn’t mean she no longer gets star-struck by certain actors.
During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the Barbie star shared that she’s been meeting people this awards season that she can’t help but fangirl over, including Martin Scorsese and Tom Hanks, who she admitted she wanted to be when she was growing up.
Ferrera also recalled meeting Leonardo DiCaprio in 2007, noting to the late night host that being star-struck sometimes sneaks up on her.
“More often than not, it’s someone you had a childhood connection to,” she said of being surprised when she meets someone. “So it’s always very embarrassing. … I watched Titanic in the movie theaters seven times. 13, 14 [years old], prime time to be in love with Leonardo DiCaprio, right?”

The casts vying for the 2024 Best Film Ensemble SAG Award hail from “American Fiction,” “Barbie,” “The Color Purple,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and “Oppenheimer.” Our current racetrack odds indicate that the “Oppenheimer” team (82/25) will triumph, followed in order of likelihood by the actors from “Barbie” (37/10), “American Fiction” (9/2), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9/2), and “The Color Purple” (9/2).
For the first time since 2021, all five films nominated for this ensemble prize are also in the running for at least one individual acting award. None produced four solo nominees like “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” both did last year, but “Oppenheimer” got close with three: star Cillian Murphy and featured players Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt. Those with two (one lead and one supporting) each are “American Fiction” (Jeffrey Wright; Sterling K. Brown), “Barbie” (Margot Robbie; Ryan Gosling), and “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Lily Gladstone...

Although the long road toward Bradley Cooper making his directorial debut with “A Star Is Born” in 2018 has been well-documented, the writer, director, and star revealed a new detail about who he considered for his female lead before landing on Lady Gaga.
“I thought about Adele for a while,” said Cooper in conversation at the 2024 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where he was there to accept the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award for his performance as Leonard Bernstein in “Maestro.”
Mimicking his thought process at the time, trying to figure out how his “A Star Is Born” character would come into contact with a woman played by the Oscar-winning UK songstress for his take on “A Star Is Born,” he said, “It was like, his career’s not great. He goes abroad. He meets this woman, but no—And then that never even took off at all.”

America Ferrera has made a career of playing real women, ranging from portraits of historical figures (such as political activist Helen Chávez in “Cesar Chavez”) to portrayals of the relatable plights faced by everyday girls everywhere (as embodied by the actress’ viral speech in “Barbie.”)
Ferrera’s selection of roles have seeming all lead to her turn in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” which landed Ferrera a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2024 Oscars. But the former teen star was already an icon to fans of the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” franchise, “Ugly Betty,” and “Superstore.” “Barbie” was just a nice reminder that maybe we’ve all been taking Ferrera’s talents for granted too long.
Let’s not forget that Ferrera made history by winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for “Ugly Betty,” becoming the first Latina woman to take home the prize in the category.

Two years ago, the hashtag #EmmysSoWhite began trending when the Television Academy failed to award any major acting trophies to people of color. The pendulum has swung, with this year’s ceremony awarding a record-breaking number of people of color across all major categories: drama, comedy, limited, reality and variety series — a first in the TV Academy’s history.

Signing on to executive produce “Tótem,” the sophomore feature from writer-director Lila Avilés that was chosen to be Mexico’s submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar, was a no-brainer for Salma Hayek Pinault. “For me, it’s very important to support women, especially if they’re Mexican. And to support talent. And Lila’s talent is rare. It’s special, it’s unique, it’s bold, it’s brave. And also it’s delicate and personal,” said the Academy Award-nominated “Frida” actress during a conversation with IndieWire over Zoom. “I just want the world to feel her through this movie, and to be touched and moved by her talent.”

America Ferrera Delivers Powerful Speech About Importance Of Representation At Critics Choice Awards
America Ferrera was presented with the SeeHer Award at the Critics Choice Awards and delivered a powerful speech just like she did in the Barbie movie.
Margot Robbie presented Ferrera with the accolade, highlighting some of her roles over the years, including Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Ugly Betty. Robbie noted that in the role of Betty, “she blazed a trail for Latina actresses while teaching everyone we are so much more than what we think we are.”
Ferrera won an Emmy for Ugly Betty, with Robbie mentioning she was the first Latina to do so in the Lead Actress in a Comedy category and continues to be the only one.

During the 2022 Creative Arts and Primetime Emmys ceremonies, two vastly different age records were broken as the acting victors accepted their prizes. First, 28-year-old Lee Yoo-mi (“Squid Game”) supplanted Samira Wiley as the youngest recipient of either drama guest award, and then Jean Smart (70) improved upon her own oldest comedy actress winner record by clinching a second consecutive trophy for “Hacks.” With one age record having already been smashed at last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, five more are up for grabs heading into the big primetime show.
Firstly, congratulations are in order for newly crowned Best Drama Guest Actress champ Storm Reid (“The Last of Us”), who, at 20, went from being her category’s third youngest nominee to its youngest winner. In fact, she is the all-time youngest recipient of any guest acting Emmy, also taking that distinction from Lee, who in turn usurped Justin Timberlake. Two more “The Last of Us...

America Ferrera believes that her 'Barbie' character being Latina helped her get a part in the movie. The 39-year-old actress starred as Mattel employee Gloria in last year's smash-hit blockbuster and doubts that she would have been cast if it were not for her background.America told The Hollywood Reporter: "To be frank: For the majority of my career, I have not been considered for roles that weren't specifically Latina. And so that, in and of itself, limits what people are willing to think of you as and what's available to you."The gift of what Greta (Gerwig) offered me is that she actually did write the 'Barbie' part as Latina. Hollywood star America Ferrera became famous when she took on the title role of the hit series ‘Ugly Betty’ in 2006 and slammed the notion that her “curvier” figure was thought to be something “groundbreaking” in show business at the time.

The ‘Barbie’ actress went on to add that it is her “wish” for the future that actors will no longer...

Tru Calling arrived on the small screen at a pivotal time for fans of genre fare in 2003.

That allowed Tru to relive the day to find out what happened to them and to try to change the events.
It was a compelling hook,...
