Superb, wonderful, terrific, chilling.

A Prison is suffering a spate of suicides, hardened criminals are all detailing the same things, tapping, the lights going out, and rats, Alison and Robert investigate, and are instantly drawn to a prisoner, Ian Garland.

This is the episode I remember vividly, it's a series I have loved since its first transmission, some episodes I remembered, this one however has never left me, it gave me nightmares, to this day, it is still a tremendous watch.

Production values are terrific, I'm not always a fan of lingering close up shots, but they are used to perfection here, they add to the sheer intensity of the episode.

As good as Sharp and Lincoln are, and they are both terrific once again, they are both outshone by David Threlfall, who puts in an outstanding, terrifying, maybe even show stealing performance as Ian Garland, his expressions, and whole demeanour are quite literally the stuff of nightmares, here you see an acting masterclass.

Immensely watchable, for the bleak, chilling story, but mainly for the magic of David Threlfall.

10/10.
