downer, this one

Well, at least I have a download of it, but good quality? No. Far from it. Original VHS had its problems, and the graphics are weak, so any negative comments here might be influenced by the bummer of an experience it is trying to enjoy watching it without seeing that faces are way, way out of focus. This, of course, has ZERO to do with the original product, mind you, but the original product lies somewhere gathering dust. Could somebody please enlighten me, when was the last time UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER was actually aired? What really happens to TV shows when they are finally off the air? The master copies?

Weaker download notwithstanding, Tiffany isn't as great in this episode. The jokes are stale compared to other episodes. Every now and then UEA does hit a dip, but this episode just drops the ball, that is visible through the haze of the weak download. The overextended bit where everybody rambles on, would have been really, really off-putting to people tuning in just then, and the detractors of the series, and to guys just hanging on to see long-legged Tiffany. Who has less sparkle here, like I already mentioned.

I am the biggest fan of UEA, I think I am, after all these years, its leading light, the one who misses it the most, the one who so dearly wants it on DVD, but even I have to admit, this episode comes in way too low on my personal Richter scale to be remotely worthy. Only there to fill the quota.

That is not to say it is bad. No. It's still streets ahead of the junk that lurks out there. It just doesn't live up to being an episode of my much-loved oh-so-special UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER.
