A Memorable performance in a Memorable story
Tiberius27-127 March 2021
Dorothy Fontana, best known to classic Star Trek fans as "D. C. Fontana" wrote this episode and in it she gave the audience a 3 dimensional female character who, in the space of this one tale manages to not only capture our imaginations but evoke our sympathy as well.

Unlike the other review mine will contain no spoilers.

I will only say what my headline does, that here you'll find a memorable performance (Emmy worthy in my opinion) in a memorable story and both Fontana and actress Carol Eve Rossen should be commended highly. Each episode of this show is of great quality but those two pros elevated it even more in this episode. BRAVO!

Bullet Match
kapelusznik1821 October 2013
****SPOILERS**** Spending their free time robbing Can Francisco taxi drivers teenagers Bobby Eillott, Nick Wheeler, and his drug addicted friend Tiny Renolds, Michael Talbott, end up killing a police undercover man posing as a cabbie Officer Rilley making them wanted cop killers by the SFPD. As it turned Booby's widowed mom Irene Ellott, Carol Eve Rossen, happens to be the widow of SFPD policeman Don Ellott who was killed in action a few years ago. What's even more shocking is that little Bobby used his late fathers service revolver to gun down Officer Rielly! It doesn't take long for the two cops on the case Let. Steve Stone, Karl Malden, and his partner Inspctor Steve Keller, Michael Douglas, to match the bullet that killed Officer Reilly to the gun that belonged to the late Officer Don Elliott! And sure enough it's discovered that the gun was in young Bobby Ellott's possession when he committed the murder!

****SPOILERS****Doing everything to get her out of control and criminal son Bobby to give up his life of crime Irene had to do the unthinkable when in a fit of insanity Bobby tried to gun down both Let. Stone and Inspector Keller when they tried to arrest him. Feeling that he got away with murder before, that's what he thought, and get away with it now Bobby miscalculated in how far his mom, Inspector Ellott, would go to protect him and in the end ended up losing and losing big time!

P.S In Bobby knowing that the police are on to him and that his friend Tiny may brake under the pressure gets his both high on drugs and beer and while he's out cold in his car killed him by carbon dioxide poisoning. This also leads to Bobby trying to implicate a totally innocent person, Eddie Cousack, in both the Officer Reilly and Tiny Reynolds murders. The jerk, Bobby Elliott, overextended himself as well as overestimated himself in fooling the police and getting away with murder or murders. It's when Bobby's mom police inspector Irene Elliott realizes what he did that after failing to talk her son into giving himself up takes matters into her own hands.
