Several plot holes, some botched lines by the actors, and a corny ending tarnish this otherwise good story.
Several times the actors stumble over their lines. Even Karl Malden sounds stiff in a couple of scenes. Why didn't the director edit it and correct it?
And, the epilog is just too feel-good and silly for a serious crime show.
These flaws aside, "Solitaire" is a decent episode of The Streets of San Francisco. A loner cop carrying a grudge, and Lt. Stone blowing his cover on a couple of occasions, creates tension and suspense among the police officers. Some drug busts gone wrong and several action scenes generate the necessary excitement.
"Solitaire" is worth watching, but I can only give this episode 7 stars.
