The acting is rough, the ending is silly.
FloridaFred2 July 2021
Several plot holes, some botched lines by the actors, and a corny ending tarnish this otherwise good story.

Several times the actors stumble over their lines. Even Karl Malden sounds stiff in a couple of scenes. Why didn't the director edit it and correct it?

And, the epilog is just too feel-good and silly for a serious crime show.

These flaws aside, "Solitaire" is a decent episode of The Streets of San Francisco. A loner cop carrying a grudge, and Lt. Stone blowing his cover on a couple of occasions, creates tension and suspense among the police officers. Some drug busts gone wrong and several action scenes generate the necessary excitement.

"Solitaire" is worth watching, but I can only give this episode 7 stars.

Not bad, but too 70ish!

Warning: Spoilers
Not bad, but too 70ish! Solitaire has a rouge Narc who's cover is blown during a raid by Keller and Stone! Well there is a French Connection style of screaming and over emotional acting. There is this deep cover with bad guys story. Solitaire has the 70's over the emotion climax, with this out of control feel. Narc is saved by a bit of luck for Keller and Stone. Just too much! Just to over the top! Okay acted and directed, but too 70ish. 6 stars.
