The Party

It is another episode where Shelley is talking to himself, well to a spider in a glass.

However he is disturbed by the noise of loud music next door plus revellers knocking in his door dressed in fancy dress.

The next door neighbour supposedly an Admiral has thrown a horror fancy dress party. It is actually the Admiral's daughter who is having the party.

Desmond the porter naturally assumes that Shelley is causing a commotion and pops around to complain.

Both Desmond and Shelley end up in the party with Desmond becoming slightly worse for wear.

It is only series 6 but Shelley who was apparently 27 years old when the show started is not regarded as being an old fogey nowadays. One of the partygoers complains how the young people of today can be a bit of a nuisance.

Written by Guy Jenkin, it is another more philosophical episode with liberal sprinklings of Shakespeare. Although Desmond ends up drinking the punch ball and then gets sick. Good interplay between Desmond and Shelley, especially regarding the state of pop music. Donizetti was a lead singer of The Animals you know.
