First of all, let's say that the title of this episode is as offensive as the point made about the overweight woman. She is a tragic figure in so many ways and has suffered a great loss. It's so easy to vilify the "other" when physical appearance is so obvious. I think how hard it is to not be a pretty face in our culture. I thought the cause of death and the outcome was very believable. In the case of Wambaugh, I have no problem seeing how many see him as offensive, but at no time should a person be cast from his or her religious institution--especially for running off at the mouth. One issue, however, a joke is thought out and delivered with intent. It is something easily controlled by the teller and Wambaugh frequently breaks that rule. The trial he is put through should teach him a lot and I'll be interested to see how the writers deal with this.
