Impatience and Shortsightedness
Hitchcoc8 May 2022
I never realized when I first started watching this show how evil the mayor of the town is. I can see no redeeming qualities. This is a rather powerful episode where an extension of a golf course is going to be put over an Indian burial ground. The Native American population is furious and demands an end to it. Soon they have taken over the court building and demanding justice. Instead of trying to negotiate and offer something, the mayor demand that if they are not out in 24 hours, to attack and kill. There are two other parallel issues. Jimmy's son fights a big kid who has been extorting money from his little brother. And another friend, who is also victimized by bullies, is badly beaten when he won't pay. His mother decides Jill should prescribe growth hormones. This lead to Ginnie demanding that Jill stop because it discriminates against little people. All three issues are exacerbated by the unwillingness to show some patience and bring in some experts. The battle at the end would have been the number one story on every network.
