An Old Story
Hitchcoc28 March 2024
The show starts out with Marilyn leaving the office. She made arrangements before, but Joel wasn't listening. He fires her on the spot. It is the Jewish holy time. He also attacks Hayden, who is lonely ne'er do well. He has a host of respiratory problems but Joel refuses to help with the rebuilding of his house. Now, cut to Shelly and Holling, waiting at the airstrip for the arrival of Holling's daughter. She took the money for the ticket and cashed it in for herself. Holling is despondent. He blames himself for what she has become. Finally, Maurice is busting his buttons over an aristocratic lady whom he has invited to be part of a fox hunt. He is at his pompous worst. He even illegally flew in a fox from England whom Ruth Anne gives sanctuary, ruining Maurice's plans. But ultimately, we have Joel doing the Scrooge thing where the rabbi shows him (on video cassettes, what a horror he has been to others). I won't go into detail because of spoilers, but this is a really interesting episode. People are forced to face their basic inadequacies and see how to rise above them.
