A life without risks is not one worth living.

Warning: Spoilers
This is a poignant, dramatic episode where Murphy and Frank flash back on their lives when they fear that they are going to be killed in a plane crash on their way to get a story. We get to see what events in their lives made them the way they are, with Frank's mother (Rose Marie on a return appearance) overly protective, even fearful when she sees him writing a bike, and Murphy's finding disappointment when her father doesn't seem to show her approval. Their relationships with the opposite sex are also explored in their teen years so you get to see them very young. Then there's their adult relationships, messed up through many factors, and how Frank and Murphy came to become best pals, showing a flashback of a first season episode. More poignant than funny, this is evidence that on occasion, you didn't need laughs to have a good sitcom. There's a shocking twist at the end that will be explained in the second part, a great way of luring the audience back, not that there was any doubt that the audience wouldn't care how it turned out.
