The Royal 'Oui'!
ShadeGrenade3 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Just as many episodes of 'Are You Being Served?' seemed to have written to basically provide excuses to get the entire cast into silly costumes, this 'Mind Your Language' instalment follows suit. There is to be a Royal visit at the school where Jeremy Brown teaches English, and his students decide to greet Her Majesty in national costume.

John Quayle plays stammering 'Fforbes-Ffortescue', the Buckingham Palace official who informs Miss Courtney of the impending visit. The actor, like Tim Barrett, has played more toffee-nosed twits than I care to remember. Indeed he was brought in to replace Barrett as 'Malcolm' in 'Terry & June', making him the third actor to play the role ( the first being Terence Alexander ).

Her Majesty fails to show up, but 'Mrs.Baxter' ( Jeannette Charles, who to my mind caught The Queen's character more effectively than Helen Mirren managed ) does, and before you can say Willie Hamilton, the housewife is being handed flowers by a curtsying Jamilla.

Funniest moment - Giovanni strutting into the canteen in 'Bugsy Malone' type clothes, complete with violin case. He then tosses a cigar into his open mouth! No wonder the audience applaud.
