THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – The Very Important Zombie Affair - 1965
This is the 44th episode of 1964 to 1968 spy series, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The series ran for a total of 105 episodes. The first season was filmed in black and with the remainder shot in colour. Robert Vaughn plays agent Napoleon Solo while David McCallum, plays Illya Kuryakin, Leo G Carroll plays Mister Waverly, the boss of the secret agency known as U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law & Enforcement) Their main enemy is THRUSH, an organization out to take over the planet.
In this episode, UNCLE agents Robert Vaughn and David McCallum are sent to Miami. They are to bring a Central American political leader back to UNCLE headquarters. The man, Ken Renard, and his wife, Isabel Cooley, are on the run from Rudolfo Acosta. Renard fled his country when Claude Akins overthrew the elected government with a military coup. Acosta is a member of the secret Police sent to bring Renard back for a show trial.
Acosta and his bunch put the bag on Renard and whisk him and Cooley back to Central America. Vaughn and McCallum are soon in hot pursuit. They discover that Renard has been put under a voodoo spell and now does the bidding of boss man Akins.
Getting involved is of course a lovely blonde type, Lisa Gaye Scoot. Vaughn and McCallum use her to help free Renard from his curse. Needless to say there are several chases and a few gun battles needed to put the kibosh of villains Akins and Acosta plans.
Not great, but not bad either, it fits the bill as a decent 50 minute time-waster.
Some might recall the big eyed blonde, Miss Scott, as the villain, THE MOTH, on the 1960's "Batman" series.
