A Clean Sweep
Prismark1019 March 2020
Something old, something new, something borrowed and an old man covered in soot.

Our trio come across an old man dressed as a chimney who looks like he might jump into the river.

The chimney sweep has fallen on hard times. There are no chimneys to clean and not much scope to bring sooty cheer at weddings.

I never knew that it was lucky to have a chimney sweep at a wedding. It apparently used to be popular.

Foggy decides to give the sweep some management advice and it leads to visiting Auntie Wainwright to buy his old brushes back. Of course somewhere along the line Compo is stuck up a roof.

The ladies discuss the early days of married life. Living with their new mother in law and how territorial mothers can be when their son's get married.

There might be something in this tradition as Compo gets some wedding cheer.
