The Invisible Man – Crisis in the Desert – 1958 This is an episode of the UK sci-fi series, THE INVISIBLE MAN. This series ran for 26 episodes between 1958 and 1959.

There has been an army coup in a small Middle Eastern country and the in-country, British agent, Howard Pays, has been captured. The Government wants him rescued before he is tortured into giving up any info.

The Invisible man, Johnny Scripps, (voice by Tim Turner) is sent by plane to attempt the rescue. He parachutes into the countryside where he is meet by Resistance fighters, Eric Polhmann and Adrienne Corri.

There is a slight problem though as the local Secret Police are keeping an eye on Polhmann. Martin Benson and Derren Nesbitt and a truck load of soldiers storm in and capture Polhmann and Corri. Benson intends some forceful questioning.

The invisible Scripps upsets this idea and helps the two resistance fighters escape.

Scripps and Corri then head to the hospital where agent Pays is being worked over. With the help of ambulance driver, Peter Sallis, Pays is wheeled out and into a vehicle and driven to a landing field for a flight back to the UK.

An enjoyable bit of light-weight entertainment that hits the mark.

Most will remember Corri from Kubrick's, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. (b/w)
