Near the beginning of immortal Ceirdwyn's flashback to England 60 AD we the viewers see several seconds of an entirely different episode of Highlander: The episode "Saving Grace" season 1 episode 17.

I hate when TV shows have long story arcs with deadly conflicts over several episodes.

This seemed like it was trying to set up a spinoff show with Ceirdwyn. Unfortunately, she has no fire and rage. No badassery. She seems almost simpering.

Warning: Spoilers
Thugs kill Ceirdwyn's boyfriend. She's an immortal, unfortunately, her boyfriend isn't. One of the thug's little brother, Paolo, ends up picking Mac's pocket. This leads Mac to come face-to-face with Ceirdwyn, whom he knows from the past. Meanwhile, Richie gets ready for the big race and realizes what a jerk Basil is.

This seemed like it was trying to set up a spin-off show with Ceirdwyn. Unfortunately, she has no fire and rage. No badassery. She seems almost simpering. She did start off good in the flashback showing her as a warrior from a Celtic tribe in 60 A.D. But in the next flashback in 1746, she seems like a domestic little miss which turned me off. Now in present times, she just kinda lets Mac come along and take over. What wasted opportunity. They could have made her something special like Xena. But they blew it.

Here's another example of Mac being a busy body when he is trying to bring Paolo home and "feels" an immortal. He has to find the immortal and then he has to interfere with whatever they are doing.

Ceirdwyn wanted revenge against the group that targeted and killed her boyfriend. I didn't blame her one bit. Hell no! But Mac comes along and gets all holier-than-thou, so Ceirdwyn caves. To top it off later when the group tries and kill Ceirdwyn at her home, Mac lets one of them go, tho the police came and arrested Paolo's brother. Don't get me wrong. I understand where Mac is coming from. It's just that when HE wants revenge then it's ok. Ceirdwyn did kill the actual killer earlier in the episode but she wanted the whole gang. I just wish at the very least the writers would have let her take all of them down on HER own. Not kill them, just beat em up, knock em out, and let the police have them. Instead, she needed Duncan to help her.

Bravo to the show for having a transgender character on, Paolo.

Richie learns a lesson after causing a crash that kills both him and Basil. He pushed harder than a normal person would because any injury he had would go away. Now he has to leave France and Europe because of all the press.

More bad dubbing of the French actors.

The episode leaves off with Ceirdwyn encouraging Mac to tell Anne the truth. Later at Joe's, he gives Anne a plane ticket to Paris and she receives a phone call from an alive Duncan.

I gave the episode a 6/10
