For the most part Mallory was always such a whiner on this show. In this particular episode , she cannot seem to stand up for herself and blames it on her mother for stealing her thunder. It occurs to me that Mallory always blames others for her misfortunes, and then she gives this half ass apology at the end of the episode.
I always wanted the writers to give her character a kick in the butt, she never really grew out of her airhead ways, even when she went off to college and got with a guy. She was the same I want to go shopping and be a model fantasy life type airhead. Typical bimbo attitude and a martyr when things didn't go her way. If this was real life I don't think Elyse would have turned down such an opportunity ,Mallory acted like a child and its no wonder they passed her over, if she had acted more mature and actually cared about the modeling thing and stood up for herself then maybe they would have looked at her, of course the writing made her look dumb but her martyr act was unwarranted since she herself was mostly to blame. Elyse played the part and was outgoing and fun , Mallory was not and so the writers got it all wrong which makes this episode a 3/10 with Justine Bateman's wooden acting as usual bringing it down.
