Christmas with the Keatons
hellraiser710 February 2020
This episode is an honorable mention as well as an honorable mention in favorite Christmas episodes. Not a lot to say, it's pretty much "A Christmas Carol" but with the Keatons. Alex is in the Scrooge role no surprise, the whole shabackle is basically to teach him to stop being overly selfish, which sadly most of the time in the show he is.

A couple of the Ketons of course serve as the ghosts, from Jennifer as the "Ghost of Christmas Past" whom is in a red robe and Malory "Ghost of Christmas Future" in a white robe. It's true the ghost effects on both aren't very good though at the same time it sort of adds to the comedy as their the kind of effects I would see in the show "Dark Shadows". Really like the Mallory who is sort of her dried humor self as usual but really like that tip, she gives to Alex about his hair.

We see the future sequence which is an exaggeration as we see Alex's family are all poor and living in abject poverty. Except for Alex whom we see a middle-aged version of him that is bad inside and out, as we see he is fat and bald. It's funny as Alex is just hung up about the baldness his future version is struck with. But I how the humanity of Alex seeps in as he observes his possible future versions behavior toward his family and he doesn't like what he sees, nor do we.

The ending of course is predictably touching but I wouldn't want it any other way in Christmas episode. And for the record actor Michael is now middle aged and looks nothing like that future counterpart, so that a Christmas miracle onto itself.
