A Weakly Written Hello Larry Crossover
Camelot_200013 November 2017
I admit I never cared for the intrusive crossovers from the low rated Hello Larry into this show. It seemed like nothing more than a desperate grab for ratings by McLean Stevenson's struggling sitcom and this poorly written Thanksgiving turkey didn't help matters either.

Larry, his two daughters and his producer all happily show up at the Drummond penthouse for a visit and for a "business deal" that Larry wants to arrange with Phil, his old army buddy and best friend. The deal has to do with an investment into purchasing a TV station or something dull like that.

The show's weak writing is clearly evident at the beginning when the Alders arrived a "week AFTER Thanksgiving", but Mr. Drummond and the kids decided to hold a "2nd" turkey dinner that they could enjoy with their visitors. Later on, after the deal went bust and Larry got angry and wanted to leave the penthouse for a hotel, he finds out there's no vacancies anywhere in the city due to the "Thanksgiving Holiday". A glaring error to the time frame of the story.

The fighting between Phil and Larry drags on for awhile, soon Larry's producer, Morgan, gets involved in the bickering and later the kids argue among themselves. All, not surprisingly, gets resolved by the time the turkey is served. The turkey on the table looked delicious, but this crossover itself was a bad gobbler indeed. Easy to see why the Hello Larry crossovers gratefully ceased after this.
