A mediocre episode with the highlight performance of the series

This episode is not great, the message is poorly conveyed and it has no real pay off. But viewers should stick around for the ending. Todd Bridges' performance in the ending scene is phenomenal and one of the best and most powerful scenes in the whole series.

Powerful Episode with an Ending that will Move You to Tears

This episode of Diff'rent Strokes, "A Growing Problem," deals with Willis' anger over Mr. Drummond's house rules. He decides to move out, and move in with his friend Jerry, who is an alcoholic. This may be the most powerful episode on alcoholism that you will ever see in any sitcom. The story is firm, honest, and believable. In all my decades of watching television, This is the one episode that pulls no punches in showing the severe consequences that can occur when one turns to "The Bottle." I cry at the ending's emotional impact! Please see this episode! It is timeless in its message and heartbreaking. Along with an ending that you will remember for the rest of your life!
