A Genuine Simpson

Softly Simpson (Nicholas Le Prevost) is a boozing forger who did time with Howard. The five pound notes were good copies, the quality of the paper was not.

Now out of prison, Softly plans to go straight. He is now doing chocolate box drawings. Apart from he has broken into Trevor's home.

Luckily Howard found him. Feeling sorry for an old prison friend. Howard gets him to draw a portrait of Trevor. Howard passes Softly off as a distant relative of the royal family. A much sought after painter.

Trevor is willing to pay £500 for his portrait. Howard and Softly go halves but Softly can only do one face. That of the Duke of Wellington as he was then the face of the five pound note.

While a suspicious Laura plans to expose Howard's new friend.

Poor stuff, not funny and Trevor cannot tell his face apart from the Duke of Wellington. The show is on fumes by now.

An old prison mate of Howard's. Softly Simpson shows up at the house with some paintings.

One of the weaker episodes, not many laughs. Howard convinces Trevor that Softly is a famous artist who has worked with the Queen. He tells Trevor that Softly can do his portrait and make him famous. When the portrait is done it is a copy of the Duke Of Wellington from the current five pound note. Laura tells Howard that Softly wants to paint her in the nude, making Howard jealous. Funniest moment is the final scene when Trevor finds out that Softly is a fraud and he takes it out on the painting and on Howard.
