Get That Ball! Get That Ball!!
Hitchcoc29 January 2019
The "football" is the thing on Air Force 1 that contains everything about the U.S. nuclear capabilities. Marwan has escaped again as the plane has been shot down. The President is in critical condition, so Vice President Logan is sworn in. He's one of those guys who liked the title when he didn't have to do anything, but now he is in charge. There is a long hunt for a couple of young people who have found the football in some wreckage. Our buddy Marwan is right there, honing in on it. Very exciting conclusion which opens a whole new chapter.

Show Is On A Roll - Another Outstanding Episode!
ccthemovieman-113 November 2007
Well, this is really cool stuff. So far, this is an excellent season of "24" with one interesting dramatic scene after the other, and quite varied in the action. Most of the recent weeks have been outstanding shows, and this one is, too.

We find out Air Force One is down but not everyone on board was killed. The President is still alive but severely injured. The Vice President, oddly portrayed as a reluctant leader who has a too gung-ho adviser, is told he has to take charge.

The main focus is on rescue teams going to the plane crash scene and retrieving a "nuclear football," a briefcase loaded with the codes and location of the entire U.S. nuclear arsenal. It is so valuable it goes wherever the President goes. It has a tracking device, and the terrorists know this, too. The drama in this episode is regarding that, and a young married couple out camping in the area of the crash who come upon this "football." Without going on and on, suffice to say it's very tense and fun to watch as good guys and bad guys all race to get that information. The long action and suspense scene with the campers, Jack and the terrorists at and abandoned warehouse is very intense.

Bad Writing

Warning: Spoilers
The President's plane gets shot down. Secret Service finds the Keeler alive. Jason finds the football. Jack is 20 minutes away. Why can't Secret Service get there immediately? The plane would not have broken up 20 minutes apart. I would think that if the plane went down and Secret Service were able to determine that the president was still alive, the guy that found the football wouldn't need to grab it and run into the warehouse to wait for Jack. I love 24 and have seen each day numerous times and this is the first time I have noticed this. No way the fuselage broke away that far from the nuclear football.

Warning: Spoilers
So you try to blow up AF1 but it makes a crash landing in the desert at a location that couldn't be predicted .. within 20 minutes the terrorists can drive to the crash site desperate to find something that 20 minutes before they fully intended and expected to destroy equipped with details on how to access the top secret device they intended to destroy and a complete plan for using it. The key terrorist then manages by magic to escape on foot in the middle of the desert to magically meet up with some other terrorists who somehow just happen to be there despite the entire forces of the USA looking for them and trying to stop them ..yeah right.

Let's send only 2 people after the football!

Warning: Spoilers
Air Force one has been shot down and all the countries nuclear codes are in the open!!

Ok let's just send one helicopter with two people to the area it will be fine. Are you serious???

This show has some of the most moronic writing that will drive anyone with an IQ higher than their age insane. They clearly know nothing about military or government procedures and should not be allowed to write for a show like this.

From a pilot being able to steal a stealth fighter like the ground crew wouldn't know all the pilots and full briefing wouldn't be done before takeoff so they would know it's not the pilot. To an FBI agent being sent alone to a terrorist suspects place to question or detain him and now this ludicrous retrieval mission.
