Composer Andrew Lockington took a decidedly international approach to his music for the Dwayne Johnson actioner “Rampage,” including traveling to Costa Rica to record the sounds of wild howler monkeys and employing a Ugandan children’s choir.
He credits director Brad Peyton — his collaborator on four films including the 2015 hit “San Andreas” — with encouraging creativity and fresh thinking, as he discusses in this exclusive video. The score also features large orchestra, processed brass and ethnic percussion and vintage computer-game electronics.
The Canadian-born composer is best known for his epic scores for “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” its sequel “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” and the disaster film “San Andreas.”
At the Box Office, “Rampage” opened at No. 1 with $34.5 million from 4,101 theaters. In its second week, the movie is looking like it will claim the runner-up slot, pulling in $18 million. Internationally, “Rampage” has already earned $114.1 million.

Edward Douglas is known more for the gothic, heavily atmospheric horror themed music, designed to spark the imagination, he has been creating since forming Midnight Syndicate in 1996. Having become the reigning champ in spooky music featured at Halloween events and haunted houses he has given his other passion a go. Having completed the score for Robert Kutzman's (K.N.B. The Dead Matter DVD ArtDirector: Edward Douglas.
Writers: Tony Demci and Edward Douglas.
The Dead Matter is a remake of a smaller film by director and writer Edward Douglas of the same name fifteen years previous (Fearnet). Midnight Syndicate Films and Precinct 13 Entertainment created this film through a joint production venture and The Dead Matter released on DVD July 30th. The DVD is jam-packed with special features from gag reels to music videos and the film stars Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead) with Andrew Divoff (The Rage). Totally enjoyable, this film blends a lot of genres to tell an interesting tale of witchcraft, possession and "post mortem Americans," aka zombies (Dead Matter); musical compositions also enhance the dark drama of the film.
The film interlaces a lot of sub-plots, but centrally The Dead Matter is about one devout sister's desire to speak with her dead brother. To achieve this...

Two years ago Fangoria Comics released one of the coolest comics to hit stands in a long, long time. The book was Bump, the story gruesome, and the art horrifically beautiful. Unfortunately for Mark Kidwell, who not only created, but wrote and also illustrated all four issues, the former owners of Fangoria ran into some internal issues, and shut down the comics division - this just months after officially releasing Bump and Robert Kurtzman‘s Beneath The Valley Of The Rage. Fortunately for not only Kidwell, but fans in general, The Brooklyn Company came in and purchased the brand, and are once again working to bring readers an assortment of new material under the mantra Fangoria Graphix. We’ll keep you posted on that as developments arise.
Back to the true topic at hand… a damn wicked comic! I’m sure if you’re reading this you’re saying ’of...

Thanks to Fangoria (and just a tiny bit to me), the short film continues to have a champion. And now, we're going to step it up and show them on the big screen…yes you read that correctly. Some of Fango’s favorite shorts are going to run in front of the features at Fangoria's Midnite Madness - our return to the world of midnight horror movies at the The Fine Arts Theatre, 8556 Wilshire Blvd. in none other than Beverly hills! (Phone: (310) 360-0455, admission is only $8 and are available online as well as the box office).
Of course, I am jumping out of my skin (well, almost jumping) about this. How long has it been since short films had their chance of being exposed to a real live audience in the theater (albeit to wackos like us who love horror)? We are making great strides, people.

The Monsters of Rock panel hosted by Fango's Scott Licina and James Zahn featured members of Fashion Bomb and Mushroomhead, as well as David Greathouse, who directed two recent videos for the band, in addition to designing their costumes, makeup, and props. This small army took the stage to answer questions.
Licina kicked it off with an absolutely fantastic music video from Mushroomhead (see it below) and then proceeded to hype up the crowd for that nights show. He didn’t have to do much. This was a group of people ready to rock and ready to ask lots of questions. When asked about the experience of working on Robert Kurtzman's The Rage, the members of Mh were enthusiastic in the extreme. When asked about their new, as-of-yet-untitled album, they took that enthusiasm and ran with it. But even in the midst of their joking around, the band refused to give away anything.

A Winnebago full of friends, on their way back from rockin’, partyin’ and drunken three-ways (and suffering from a great deal of buyer’s remorse regarding all three), take the wrong back-road shortcut and wind up smack in the middle of a horrific situation they can barely comprehend. Things get worse, and deadly, and bloody, and the last remaining survivors are forced to band together to survive.
Sounds like every other horror movie ever made, doesn’t it? Well, try this on for size: Dr. Viktor Vasilienko (played to the hilt by Andrew Divoff), a discredited biophysicist, is experimenting on living (and very conscious) subjects, injecting them with a serum that turns them into ravenous, cannibalistic (above-ground) mutants—something for which only he has the cure! And when one of these subjects gets loose, it goes on a killing rampage, attacking even young children with reckless, murderous abandon!
Still skeptical?...

The last time I was in this cavernous building, it was 2000 and I was a beleaguered employee. Back then, it was the Wrs Film and Video Lab, notorious as the house that processed the original negative of Night Of The Living Dead.
Before it was a film lab, it had been a meat-packing plant—and a slaughterhouse. All of this seems appropriate, if not ironic, because right now, the space that used to house a bank of bulk VHS tape-transferring decks is now a grand dining room, complete with a spiral staircase winding up to a balcony. Overhead hangs a delicate crystal chandelier. In the corner is a Christmas tree. And in just a few moments, a hooded figure is going to hurl a flaming Molotov cocktail at an unfortunate girl’s head.
Wrs, the lab, is no more. Now it’s the home of all the interior sets for Sorority Row.

Veteran X Files producer/director R.W. Goodwin (pictured), whose new creature-feature comedy Alien Trespass opens this spring from Roadside Attractions, has joined the lineup of the next Chicago edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held March 6-8 at the Wyndham Chicago O’Hare Hotel (6810 North Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Il). Goodwin produced over 70 episodes of The X Files, and directed nine of them.
Alien Tresspass, which stars Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack, Autopsy’s Robert Patrick and The Wonder Years’ Dan Lauria, concerns an Earthly encounter with extraterrestrials both good and bad. Not a spoof or parody, but pretty much a straight film that could have played on the same bill as It Came From Outer Space, Alien Trespass has won raves on the festival circuit. You can find out more here and see a couple of exclusive pics here. Accompanying Goodwin will be his wife Sheila Larkin,...
