Favouritism: Zippy and George's Puppet Legends
jboothmillard8 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I did not see all episodes of the series known as Favouritism, but from the list of episodes some did sound like they may have been interesting, but I was glad I didn't miss this one. I remember it really well because it was originally meant to be broadcast on September 11th, obvious reasons stopped this from happening (but they still showed EastEnders). Anyway, basically Rainbow puppet stars George and Zippy (both voiced by Roy Skelton) count down their top ten greatest puppet stars that have entertained people for many years. The top ten include Margaret Thatcher from Spitting Image, Sooty with friends Sweep and Soo, Thunderbirds (or more specifically Thunderbird 2), Gordon the Gopher, Rod Hull and Emu, Keith Harris and Orville, Pinky and Perky, a clash between Basil Brush and Roland the Rat - Roland was chosen, and deserved winner Kermit the Frog of The Muppet Show and numerous other stuff. There was also mention of the ones that didn't make the mark, or were good but not enough to have in the list, including Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear, Pipkins and Fingerbobs. With contributions from Gerry Anderson, Matthew Corbett, Anne Diamond, Keith Harris, Lord Roy Hattersley, Geoffrey Hayes, Brian Henson, Ian Hyland, Chris Langham, Mike Read, Phillip Schofield and Soo (Brenda Longman). Good!
