A car crash interview with a delusional prince, a new series adaptation featuring Patricia Highsmith’s most infamous creation, the second part of Zack Snyder’s pricey space opera and a paranormal detective show set within Neil Gaiman’s celebrated Sandman universe are among the big titles hitting Netflix in April.
Debuting April 4 is Ripley, Netflix’s glossy new take on Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Fresh from the critical acclaim he received for All of Us Strangers, Irish actor Andrew Scott will be inhabiting the role of Tom Ripley in an adaptation that will be screened in black-and-white. The eight-episode series also stars Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, and acting newcomer Eliot Sumner (son of Sting and Trudie Styler) as Freddie Miles. Written and directed by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian, Ripley was originally set for release on Showtime before it found a new home on Netflix.

Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.
Here’s everything coming to Amazon Prime Video and Freevee this month.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

“This is such a wonderful event where we honor and support and continue to fight for women in all facets of the entertainment world,” said Ferrell before adding, “Forget about the entertainment world, isn’t it just time? So, please, can you guys just take over?”

Actor and comedian Ken Jeong, who is currently a judge on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” is developing a talk show with an eye toward a 2024 launch, according to media reports on Friday.
He taped a test show in New York on Friday, Deadline reported. That’s not a SAG strike violation as talk show hosts are under a different contract and no longer a WGA red flag — as it was for Drew Barrymore and Bill Maher — as writers have gone back to work after successfully negotiating a new contract with the AMPTP.
Jim Biederman of “The Kids in the Hall” will serve as showrunner, writer and director. He’ll also executive produce alongside Jeong for Debmar-Mercury, the company behind “The Wendy Williams Show” and “The Nick Cannon Show.”
Prior to joining “The Masked Singer,” Jeong starred in the ABC sitcom “Dr. Ken.” He also played Ben Chang on NBC...

American Pie still remains one of the greatest movies of the 1990s, having premiered right at the tail end of the decade in 1999. It’s known mostly for its silly humor and cast members who absolutely nailed their roles. Seann William Scott, who played Steve Stifler in the film, was just one example of an excellent casting, but if you thought he made millions from the role, think again: Stifler recently revealed just how much of a paycheck he took home for his acting, and it’s not at all what you probably thought.

Cocaine Bear is directed by Elizabeth Banks, with an ensemble cast that includes Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Christian Convery-Jennings and Alden Ehrenreich.
A movie that starts off with a comic bump and cites Wikipedia as a source can’t be bad, can it?
If you take it seriously, it’s a B-movie with little plot and a series of “well-worn” jokes that are probably funnier after you’ve had two or three whiskeys or your favorite substance.
If you don’t take it seriously: it’s an eighties revival that’s lot of fun and is done with period effects.
Very funny.
Plot (to call it something)
A guy throws some packets of cocaine out of a plane, which end up in the paws of a bear, which dances furiously in a park that is similar to Yellowstone – but with an entirely different Yogi there…

Paul Rudd has been a beloved actor for nearly three decades, with his breakthrough role coming in the 90s teen classic Clueless. His performance as Josh Lucas in the movie set him on course to appear in several comedy classics. However, if Rudd had his own way, he would’ve starred in the film as a different character. He was initially more interested in one of the other attendees of Bronson Alcott High School, but Rudd was talked out of auditioning for that role for reasons he couldn’t really argue with at the time.
Paul Rudd played a sensitive heartthrob in ‘Clueless’
At the beginning of Clueless, Josh and Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) have next to nothing in common. He’s a slightly pretentious college student. She’s a class-obsessed popular girl who can talk her way out of nearly any high school problem she faces. They were also former step-siblings,...

When a Marvel film hits theaters, they are events. People eagerly anticipate the continuing adventures of their favorite Marvel characters and tend to go back week after week after week giving the films legs that other movies would be envious of. Even though Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania won its second weekend with $32.2 million, that number represents a 70% drop off which is officially the largest second week decline in Marvel Cinematic Universe history. Something I did not expect when I said it would “Easily win the weekend.” Of course this threequel had further to fall than its predecessors, as it opened to a franchise best $106.1 million while the original Ant-Man opened with $57.2 million and lost 56.5% in its second weekend and its sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp opened to $75.8 million and lost 61.6% in its second weekend.
So the question now is: why did this one hit such a massive wall in its second weekend?...

When New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey began reporting on Harvey Weinstein, they had very few connections in Hollywood.
“Full disclosure: I barely knew who Harvey Weinstein was,” Twohey noted Wednesday during the pair’s keynote address at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment breakfast gala, presented by Lifetime.
They developed those sources, however, and their reporting on a litany of sexual assault and harassment allegations against Weinstein, spanning several decades, first published in 2017, helped lead to the former movie mogul’s downfall (he was convicted on sexual assault and third-degree rape charges in New York and is currently on trial in Los Angeles for alleged crimes that took place there). Seconds after hitting the red carpet outside NeueHouse Hollywood on Thursday night, Jennifer Garner stopped posing momentarily to ask the row of photographers a quick question (or two).
“What do you think? Is she doing a good job?” Garner asked, referring to the woman standing to her left, power publicist and Lede Company co-founder and co-ceo Meredith O’Sullivan. Garner then turned to face O’Sullivan, adjusted the lapels of her black tuxedo jacket and faux-straightened her white dress shirt, like a publicist might do for a client ahead of a gala like the one about to unfold.
The gesture perfectly telegraphed how the tables turned for the special event as Garner showed up to honor O’Sullivan, her longtime publicist and “dear friend,” someone used to shining a light on her A-list clients, not the other way around.

With its list of new releases for September 2022, Prime Video is finally unveiling the most anticipated (and expensive) series in the streamer’s history.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive to Prime Video’s servers on Sept. 2, 2022. This Lord of the Rings prequel, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, is in many ways the kind of TV property that Prime Video must have always wanted. It’s certainly the TV property most fitting with the company’s largesse and riches. The Rings of Power will cover the creation of the titular rings and many important events from Tolkien’s lore (condensed into a more TV-appropriate timeframe).

Lynch joins previously announced cast members Shannon Woodward and Nicole Richie.
In the multi-cam sitcom, after being dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of her apartment on the eve of a big promotion, Amy (Woodward) finds refuge at her mom’s (Lynch) house in the blue-collar neighborhood where she grew up. Few titles open at the North American box office post-Thanksgiving weekend, which usually is one of the weakest of the year. In 2019, that meant it fell short of $100 million. This year, it will see less than $9 million. Fewer than half of domestic theaters are open, of course, but the biggest barrier remains audience resistance to theaters during the pandemic.
Thanks to “The Croods: A New Age,” this isn’t the lowest-grossing weekend since theaters began reopening in mid-August. That sequel received most of the action, along with five other titles from Universal and its specialty division Focus Features.
Three of those titles — “Freaky,” “Let Him Go,” and “Come Play” — are already available at home for $19.99 after each spent three weeks in theaters. With the absence of product, they continue to place in the top 10. The three other films, including “Croods,” will also land on VOD platforms this month.
