Really Sick Low Budget Exploitation Flick
Jakealope5 January 2005
It starts off in a real low budget but pseudo documentary way, with a flashback interview with a school psychologist, but of who? The killer or the hooker victim? Allegedly, this is based on a true story, but that leaves a lot of room for improvisation. It has a video stock only look and it never made it to the theaters. It's from some schlock video production company that specializes in this kind of trash. The main creep, some black yuppie, kidnaps whores and tortures and kills them in his garage while his neglected white wife hangs out in the house pouting about how he is not paying attention to her. Well, dummy, if your husband is murdering women on the side, along with other cheesy sexual liaisons, then you consider yourself lucky that he does neglect you! Obviously a dim bulb, from her choice of spouse on up! If you have to pay for this film, which thankfully I didn't, then you have wasted your money. It is grim viewing and well worth avoiding unless in cases of extreme boredom!

Don't waste your time!

Warning: Spoilers
This movie would be the ultimate cure for insomnia if it weren't so gut wrenching as to keep even those of us with the strongest stomachs awake. The movie is about a man who kidnaps hookers and tortures them in his basement while his neglected wife sits in the house upstairs, oblivious to what is going on. The entire movie was extremely disturbing and had one of the stupidest endings I have ever seen. The sound quality was terrible...I thought there was was something wrong with the DVD until I read the other user comments and found it was the movie itself.

Inependent filmmakers, if you want a lesson in what NOT to do, rent this one and watch it a few times.

um?

wow...this movie was just awful. i'm a big fan of low budget/sort of "indie" films and student films and i have given many of them a shot. i have to say i've seen some that were just great and told good stories with memorable characters. i have to say this rates up there with some of the worst i've seen. the list of things completely wrong with this film probably stretches on forever. the sound quality was awful...i could barely hear them! characters weren't developed really well and it wasn't scary at all...not what i expected! i love horror movies and the cover of this DVD was definitely misleading. i was also hooked by the fact that it was based on a "true" story...but who wouldn't be if you adore horror flicks like i do? my advice...don't spend the dough to rent it!

Good film for student film makers to watch.
Monica49375 June 2005
When I saw this sitting innocently on the shelf in Hollywood Video I knew right away that it would be another indie film gone terribly wrong, and I was right, but yet not entirely disappointed. IMO everything that was wrong was more technical (ie the sound was awful and sometimes the lighting would be bad) with occasionally a few screw ups by the director and actors. I think this is a good movie for aspiring student directors to watch. I actually thought the acting (mainly that of the lead female being tortured) was good and the effects were surprising...particularly one scene involving a bucket, the lead hookers foot and a hammer...but I don't want to spoil anything so I'll stop there. There were a few plot holes and scenes that didn't make sense with the storyline, but I think if you can forgive them then you will have a decent time watching it. 5/10

The DVD Audio is Horrific
demarkin15 January 2005
I didn't watch all of this movie because (a) the video quality and lighting were horrific , but most importantly.... the audio on the DVD was not mastered properly which gives me a poor impression of how this movie would turn out.

The audio was peaked too high, leaving the viewer hearing a static in the background. Likewise, when scenes changed, you'd hear the static cut off, and then cut back on again during fade-in's/fade-out's. If the editor ever reads this comment, LEARN ABOUT AUDIO LEVELS!!!

It ruined the entire movie...not that it was promising anyways. I learned a few lessons about judging DVD's by it's cover.

Are You Serious?
GDFanLife2 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so I just watched this movie about a week ago. Well, actually, I didn't even finish it. This movie is god awful. First thing about this movie is that the sound quality is garbage. Now, I understand that this is a low budget film, but come on. I turned my TV on full blast and could not hear it at some points. Secondly, the killer isn't even believable. I mean seriously, he is so polite and gentle, then he stabs the girl out of the blue. He then proceeds to talk to her all nice and quiet? I just don't get it. All the while his wife sits in the house not knowing anything is happening, even with all this taking place in there own garage. Then he proceeds to come in the house with blood all over his shirt and change, with his wife sitting in the living room. Then he cleans himself up, changes shirts, and proceeds to torture her again and getting more blood on his changed shirt. It just seems like they forgot some things when making this film. At one point he is putting the door knob back on that the girl got off with a drill. OK, that is fine, but did anyone catch what was on the end of the drill? O thats right, it was a drill bit that you would use to drill a hole. I found that hilarious myself. I will finish my rant on this POS by saying the constant black screen to go to new scenes was annoying, the acting was bad, the quality was horrid, and all together just no point to the movie whatsoever.

Repulsive
TheLittleSongbird18 November 2012
I saw Human Nature with little else to do and also the title seemed interesting. But even with the low expectations I had, I was still repulsed by the movie. Human Nature is of very cheap quality, the lighting is so dark it is difficult often to make out what's going on, the editing is very choppy and the settings could have easily been a basement. But what further cheapens Human Nature is the dreadful sound, which is so muted-sounding that dialogue and actors' delivery are seldom heard here. The script is hackneyed and very difficult to take seriously, while the story has no atmosphere or suspense whatsoever, and is very clichéd and dull. It is filled to the brim with overly-sadistic moments, okay there is nothing wrong with having a disturbing scene but having so many of them that are enough to make you either gouge out your eyes or make you throw up is way too much. The characters have nothing to them and are just not that likable or interesting. I did find it really difficult that the wife didn't suspect anything, even when it was so obvious, and the killer is far too nice to be convincing. The acting is atrocious too with awkward line delivery and the sense that nobody wanted to be there, I've seen robots much more animated. All in all, a truly repulsive movie in every sense. 1/10 Bethany Cox
