Great game but not based on the movie

This was my favorite video game back in the day. But there are some popular misconceptions about it I'll attempt to clear up.

First, the name of this game was simply "Death Race," NOT "Death Race 2000."

Second, this game had nothing to do with the Corman classic film at all, except that it was simply ripping it off.

Third, you were running over neither people or "skeletons" in the game itself - you were running over "gremlins." These gremlins, however, sounded just like people when they screamed upon getting run over, and looked just like stick-figure people!

This game was a blast. You played against a simple black background, and your "car" was a bare-bones stick drawing, just like the "gremlins" you ran over. When you killed them, they screamed, and turned into graves! Two players can play as well as the game had two sets of steering wheels and pedals.

Unfortunately, even in those non-PC times this game was hot stuff, and was pretty much banned in a lot of places. Not many were made to begin with, and now they are really rare and sought after. And classic video game fans pretty much agree that the console artwork for this game was among the greatest ever done, for any game ever.

Great game if you can ever play it at an exhibit or something! But again - it has nothing to do with "Death Race 2000" at all.
