Fun with music

There are a fair share of 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes that centre around an individual story, and there are great examples. There are just as many, and perhaps even more, episodes that are made up of two or more segments (mostly three), again some great examples and many come off entertainingly but the quality is not as consistent with not every segment being completely successful. The premise for "Music Day" was absolutely great and relatable for anybody in the music business.

And mostly done very well. "Music Day" is not one of the best 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes by all means and could have gone even further with its concept. There are funnier episodes of the show and more inventive ones, though it does have more imagination and spark than a good deal of episodes from this period. Of the episodes that centre heavily around music, "Tiny Toon Music Television" and "Buster and the Wolverine" do it better, a lot better in the former's category. Made up of three segments, "Ruffled Ruffee", "The Horn Blows at Lunchtime" and "Loon Lake", there is a lot to like about "Music Day".

Its only not so good segment is "The Horn Blows at Lunchtime". Li'l Sneezer is worth watching but the humour is not that funny or witty and goes overboard on the silliness. The story is also rather predictable and bland.

Best of the three is "Loon Lake". Absolutely loved the ballet setting, and the segement does so well at showing the wonders of seeing it on stage and the aspirations but also the competitiveness and nasty attitudes that can come with behind the scenes. It is also the funniest in humour and wackiest in energy "Music Day" gets and Babs is on top form.

When it comes to talking about the individual strengths of "Music Day", there are a great many to talk about. In all three segments, the animation is bright, lively and colourful and the expressions and reactions continue to delight. There is nothing questionable about the music placement or type and the theme song is still infectious. The voice acting is excellent, particularly from Tress MacNeille.

Overall, very good. 8/10.
