Sure, all the news and focus of the internet, right now, is on the new Iron Man 2 trailer which, in my opinion deserves the amount of excitement that it’s inspired. But, that’s not what we’re talking about now. The new trailer for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, is online and gives us a pretty thorough, and spectacular glimpse into Burton’s creation of Wonderland.
We see the White Rabbit, the Red Queen and her main man, The Knave of Hearts, and yes, the Mad Hatter. It looks fantastical, and certainly Burton inspired, if still in that candy-coated look that he’s had on previous film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The film’s synopsis reads as, “19 year-old Alice, returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. …

Disney has released a third trailer for Tim Burton’s characteristically dark version of Alice in Wonderland and the theatrical version that will be playing this weekend (in 3-D depending on the theater) with prints of Avatar. The re-imagination is set for March 5, 2010.
I was skeptical, especially after Burton’s remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but this looks amazing. Technically this is a sequel to the original and a 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to Wonderland while fleeing a marriage proposal and formal event. There she encounters some familiar and some entirely new characters: the White Rabbit (voiced by Michael Sheen), the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Chesire Cat (voiced by Stephen Fry), the Caterpillar (Alan Rickman), the Knaves of Hearts (Crispin Glover), Tweedledee/Tweedledum (Matt Lucas), and the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).

The more I see of Tim Burton’s vision of/sequel to Alice in Wonderland that’s headed our way in 3D, the more I’m hesitantly excited about it. As I’ve said all along — his adaptations of these stories can benefit greatly from his style (Sleepy Hollow) or clash disastrously (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
This latest trailer for the film, which will be attached to screenings of Avatar, gets me more excited than anything else they’ve shown us, so check it out below and let us know what you think!
Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and the ultimate human being, Crispin Glover, will arrive in theaters March 5, 2010.

Disney has released a new trailer for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and you can check it out after the jump. While the teaser trailer for Alice looked cool, this new trailer is definitely going to wow you with some pretty incredible visuals. In fact, with this trailer, we’re finally getting a real taste of the movie and in my opinion…it looks like the perfect marriage between story and visuals. Because if there was ever a place that Tim Burton was meant to bring to life, it’s the magical world of Wonderland. Also, the way he’s making the film, with a mixture of live action, animation and CGI, I think it’s going to be amazing. Check out the trailer and judge it for yourself:

Director Tim Burton benefits from a strong following, comprised of eager fans who have come to love and appreciate Burton's striking visual style and his flair for finding a slightly darker side in places one might least expect it. He already has a handful of book adaptations and reboots under his belt, including 1989's Batman and its sequel, the Planet of the Apes, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In March of next year, Burton unveils his latest project, a colorful blend of CGI and live action in the form of Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and …

The first trailer for Tim Burton’s latest adaptation of Alice In Wonderland did very little for me. It looked like a colorful but jumbled mess, a la Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
The newest Us trailer, courtesy of Coming Soon, looks to be much more on the exciting end of the spectrum, and gives us a much better understanding of the story that is to unfold. Needless to say, I’m not entirely sold on Johnny Depp in this part, but I love how much time Crispen Glover gets in this trailer. Still not loving how much they are selling the 3-D experience on this film, but we’ll see how that, ultimately, turns out.

[Our thanks to Andrew David Long for the following review.]
Walter is a kid who dreams of making it big on the pro-skateboard scene. When his gold VHS tape of tricks is deemed worthy, he is summoned by The Baron to the headquarters of Machotaildrop Skateboards. But Machotaildrop isn't just a manufacturer, it's a corporate machine with a near-feudal structure. It's a world where everyone is trying to stave off "the inevitable ravages of age that sneak up on you from behind like a clown with a cream pie" and Walter is too young and innocent to be wary of the deceits, foibles, and ambitions of his new "family". He is oblivious to how they are employing his youthful charm as nothing more than a marketing tool. When a planned Machotaildrop amusement park threatens to destroy the habitat of near-feral skater gang The Man Wolves, commercialized sport and skate-punk-primate anarchy are fated to clash, and Walter can no longer remain …

One of cinema’s great cinematic pairings is Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, who as of their latest project, the highly anticipated adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, have worked together seven times. It’s a pairing that has worked very well every single time (as far as I’m concerned).
It’s no surprise then that the duo are continuing to work together, with a feature film adaptation of ABC’s 1960s gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows, being next on their slate. This project has been rumored for a very long time, with Depp finally coming on-board (along with his company) to produce in 2007 and Burton coming onboard as director in 2008.
Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory scribe, John August, wrote the Dark Shadows screenplay, and just this summer Depp confirmed it’s definitely happening and that he’d be starring in it, if and when the project gets off the ground. …

It has seemed like we have announced about eight or nine times that Dark Shadows would be the next film on Tim Burton’s plate. In looking back over the site, I see that it was only once, but, still, news of its proposed start date on production has been a long time coming. Sci-Fi Wire caught up with producer Graham King who claims the film will begin shooting next year.
We’re actually going to shoot that film next September/October with Tim Burton and Johnny.
King also went on to talk about how he is beginning preparations for the film while Burton finishes up his work on Alice In Wonderland.
We’ve been working on the script a lot, even though he’s working on Alice. We’ve been given a script. John August wrote the first screenplay. We’re making some changes, but the film’s going to be in production, …

On Saturday I was lucky enough to attend a very special charity evening in aid of the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation. It took place, as you might have guessed at the legendary Pinewood Studios just outside London near Windsor. The event was in aid of the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation, a charity that helps people with disabilities to increase independence and improve life skills.
The event was named the Pinewood Legends evening for a reason. Invited along as guests of the Foundation were:
Roy Button OBE (Senior Vice President & MD of Warner Bros.) Paul Weston (Stunts, Daylight, Superman I, II, III) Terence Clegg (Producer, Out of Africa, A Clock Work Orange) Mike Moran (Movie music score composer) Joss Williams (Special Effects Supervisor on Green Zone, Hell Boy 2, Rambo, The Bourne Ultimatum) Anthony Waye (Producer, Casino Royale) Saeed Jaffrey (Actor, Gandhi) Paul Hitchcock (Producers, Mission Impossible, Firefox)

It was only a matter of time before someone came along to tell a fairy tale about skateboarding and we’re not talking Disney happily-ever-after fairy tale, but more of a Brother’s Grimm take on things. Enter Machotaildrop a unique tale from writer directors Corey Adams and Alex Craig.
Somewhere between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Lords of Dogtown it’s the story of the biggest skateboard company on the planet and the young man who took it down from the inside. Walter Rhum is a talented kid with aspirations to be the next face of Machotaildrop, the biggest and coolest skateboard company on the planet run by a man who calls himself The Baron. After sending them a VHS tape of his talents, he …

Wes Anderson’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox might be my favorite Roald Dahl adaptation of all time. When I say that, I’m speaking of Roald Dahl adaptations like The Witches (1990), Matilda (’96), James and the Giant Peach (also ‘96), and both versions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005 with that title, 1971 as Willy [...] …

I absolutely loved director Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. The film is his first foray into stop-motion animation and it’s like he brought the genre to him rather than attempting to adapt to the genre. Trust me; if you’re a fan of his previous work like Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, you’re going to love this movie.
As most of you know, Fantastic Mr. Fox is based on the best-selling children’s book by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach) and it features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Wally Wolodarsky, Eric Anderson, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, and Owen Wilson. But unlike some animated movies that cast famous actors to help sell tickets, everyone who provides a voice is perfect in this film. Again, this is a great movie …

Fantastic Mr Fox is very mildly fantastic. That’s not a knock. The film is great, but it’s great in a subtle kind of way. It’s an understated comedy that can satisfy audiences both young and old. Adapted for the screen from Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book. He’s also the writer who concocted such great classic tales as Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and James And The Giant Peach, both of which have had their moments on screen as well.
The film also takes on the uniquely awkward and quirky dimensions that form within the mind of writer-director Wes Anderson. In case you have no idea who that is, Wes Anderson is the marvelous filmmaker who began with Bottle Rockets (some of you may still have puzzled looks on your faces) but went on to make Rushmore. There we go! That’s the big “Aha! …

But with Sarah Palin eyeing the presidency and Scientology in trouble there are at least reasons to celebrate
Americans do holidays better than anyone and, dammit, we have the obesity problem to prove it: two-thirds of us are now officially overweight and that figure, like the dial on the bathroom scale, is only going to rise.
One reason for this happens tomorrow: Thanksgiving, which falls smack in between Diabetes Night (aka Halloween) and Obesity Day (aka Christmas.) Imagine having Christmas dinner, twice, less than a month apart. It's not enough that our portions are bigger anyway, we have the whole meal again.
But if there's anything more American than eating an enormous meal twice, it's finding a justification to do so. So while the holiday itself might elicit groans (of indigestion), there are plenty of things this year that are worthy of a third helping of sweet potatoes with marshmallows, …

He had me at Beetlejuice. It was 1988 when I was first introduced to the genius that is Tim Burton. I was working at the BBC at the time, thirteen years before I joined Syfy. I recall feeling entirely blown away by the sheer anarchic imagination and black humor of the film. And being English and a fan of dark, surreal comedy which is, of course, part and parcel to the British psyche, there was a natural appeal to Tim Burton's twisted perspective on the world. Like many Burton fans, I have passionately followed and admired his incredible on-screen work, from Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So I was thrilled when Syfy learned of the opportunity to support Tim Burton in an extraordinary exhibition at MoMA. …
