Wonderful Film
safetystephen9 December 2010
This film is a wonderful documentary. This film provides a thoughtful, unblinking, more adult look into the mysterious world of UFO Believers/researchers/"ufologists", albeit pretty much only one man's lonely corner. It's a witty, respectful, obviously heartfelt film. I found it very affecting and moving.

It was really neat to see John Keel too! I read "The Mothman Prophecies" and found it to be a real downer, murky and sad. In "Whispers", he comes off as a less tragic figure, more like somebody who is had fun with human psychology and his explorations of it.

The West Virginians interviewed are the best part. Colorful people all, lost a bit in the time-warp that is WV. They reminded me a lot of friends and faces I grew up with; my dad used to call people like that "local characters".

Watching the film, you kind of feel sorry for these people with their odd interests; their lives seemed pretty bleak and lonely for the most part. If they had the Internet back then, I bet they would have greatly enjoyed networking with other like-minded folks.
