Sanju's worst
superindrajit23 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Ajay Kashyap was nothing but a liability towards Sanju's career. Baring a few good films like Do Quadi and Naam O Nishan, Kashyap gave Sanju some of his worst films ever. Do Matwale was a disaster, Mere Haque sank without a trace, and the very first Jaan Ki Baazi was an absolute crass. Saheebzaade was another Sanju-Kashyap which failed at the box office. It starting in 1988 and released in 1992 like most Dutt films from the early 90s. From the list of 9 1991-1992 Sanjay Dutt releases, most were craps that got delayed except a few like Adharm(also got delayed but good), Saajan(didn't get delayed, a brilliant romantic drama film). Saheebzaaade is an ordinary love story which would have worked if the performances and dialogs were power packed. The movie is about 2 brothers who fall for the same girl but one brother sacrifices his love for the other. The first half contains lots of 90s romance(boring), cheesy comedy(boring as well), and some serious scenes which contain lots of weeping(oh god, so annoying). The second half too contains more weeping, and little action(more of an extra ingredient to make a comeback to such a bad film). The twist is that their mom was falsely accused and murdered and the son's take revenge. The ending is typical Bollywood style. The film is horrible in every aspect, Dutt had pretty much died in the 90s from flops like this. Though films like Saajan, Adharm, Khalnayak, Gumraah, Aatish, Dushman, Kartoos, and the critically acclaimed Vastav gave his career goods in his bad periods. In fact if Sanju didn't get Aatish, his other delayed releases from the 80s and 90s would have killed his career. Saheebzaade is nothing close to good, it is far from average as well. It is marked for another Ajay Kashyap flop at the box office and these films have been forgotten, as they are the past decades nonsensical flops. On the whole, Saheezade is nothing great and is only a drawback for Sanju's career from the 1991-1992 period.
