‘The Fourth Kind’ Abduction Featurette and Genre Picks

2 November 2009 10:15 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

If you have been eagerly anticipating Friday’s release of The Fourth Kind, here is a creepy little featurette from Universal and Yahoo Movies to prime you for the movie — which you can watch after the jump. It’s no spoiler to note that the plot of the movie has to do with missing people in Alaska, and possible alien abduction. This featurette provides a back-story, so to speak, about the four different kinds of alien encounters.

Still can’t sate your appetite for alien abduction? If so, take a look at these other genre titles while you are biding your time. And, look for our review of The Fourth Kind on Friday.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) – Arguably the best known in the genre. This movie terrified me when I saw it as a child. Steven Speilberg’s follow up to Jaws racked up several oscar nominations and won for best cinematography. »

Julianne Moore will be honored with the "Hollywood Supporting Actress Award" at the 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards. An actress of great versatility, Julianne Moore has been nominated four times for Academy Awards for her work. She was FBI agent Clarisse Starling in Hannibal, a grieving mother in The Forgotten, Lila Crane in the Psycho remake, Susan in Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, and the lead in the sci-fi Children of Men.

She just completed work on Atom Egoyan's noirish-b-movie parody Chloe, which also stars Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried...

She was last seen in sci-fi/fantasy/thriller Blindness, a film adaptation of Nobel Prize-winning novelist Jose Saramago's book of the same name, directed by Fernando Meirelles and also starring Mark Ruffalo. Moore will next be seen in Shelter, an independent psychological thriller, directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, and also starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers. »

12 October 2009 8:32 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Director Joseph Ruben was one of the go-to filmmakers for thrillers in the 90s with such hits as Sleeping with the Enemy and The Good Son, but before that he took a look at family values. with a late 80s cult classic. Ruben directed the film The Stepfather, which is finally available on DVD for the first time on October 13, just in time for the theatrical remake The Stepfather, which hits theaters on October 16. I recently spoke with director Joseph Rubin on the phone about his 1987 film and here's what he had to say.

Can you talk about how you first heard of this story and when you decided this would be the next film for you?

Joseph Ruben: Yeah. Well in most cases it starts with the scripts. I read an early draft and what hit me most is whenever you're looking at a thriller, the first thing »

1 October 2009 5:10 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Deep in the heart of downtown Detroit, director Predrag “Gaga” Antonijevic is conjuring up a slice of the South. The much-lauded Serbian filmmaker is lensing the supernatural thriller Little Murder, his second English-language movie, in the Motor City despite the fact that it’s set in New Orleans, post-Katrina.

Antonijevic and co. are bringing to life the story of an alcoholic cop (Josh Lucas from Session 9 and the upcoming Tell Tale, seen in the exclusive pics here) who is observing a suspect (Iron Man’s Terrence Howard) from a house inhabited by the ghost of a murdered cellist (Lake Bell of TV’s Surface and Boston Legal). “It’s not an obvious plot,” Bell tells Fango, “but a strange little movie where every day that goes by, I learn more about what, tonally, we’re making. When you’re dealing with supernatural elements or spirits and things like that, »

Antonijevic Pushes Josh Lucas, Howard and Bell to commit a 'Little Murder'

18 August 2009 | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

- Long time no see Mr. Peter Antonijevic. Going by the nickname of Gaga, I'm familiar with the Yugoslavia filmmaker because a friend forced me to watch Dennis Quaid in Gaga's war film, Savior. The filmmaker is on the comeback trail, moving into the occult thriller form with a great backdrop and will be directing his first film in almost a decade with a low budget, post Hurricane Katrina tale featuring a Josh Lucas and Terrence Howard pairing and supplemented by actress Lake Bell. Shooting begins next week in New Orleans. Lucas and Howard Engage in a Little Murder

18 August 2009 2:49 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Katrina disaster backdrop? Check. Goodhearted female ghost who happens to be a cellist? Check. Shot at redemption for a disgraced cop? Check, check. Heart strings tugged? The producers hope so. Yep, all the fixings for what sounds like a very vanilla thriller are in place for the upcoming project, Little Murder.

Variety reports that Josh Lucas, Terrence Howard and Lake Bell will star in the indie thriller Little Murder with Peter "Gaga" Antonijevic at the director's helm.

Little Murder, penned by Gerald Di Pego ("The Forgotten," "Phenomenon"), is set in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and centers on a disgraced detective (Lucas, pictured right) who gets an unexpected shot at redemption when the ghost of a beautiful cellist solicits his help in finding her killer.

Shooting begins next week in New Orleans. Let's hope the project rises above the formulaic outline. We can only hope, right?
