Good central idea but lacked polished and finish

A local radio phone-in discusses the usual relationship problems until it gets a call from a Muslim soldier who has fled the army because he doesn't want to go to war in Afghanistan. The course of the phone call involves more than just the life of the young caller and the importance of the call is very real to the female host.

The plot here starts well but doesn't end satisfactorily. The premise is of a Muslim soldier in the British army who doesn't want to fight his won people (so to speak). It is a valid idea and is well thought out, however the odd weakness prevent it being really captivating. The core is tense and a good drama but it didn't give me enough information - but I may have been missing the micro-scale of the film.

The performances are mixed. The lead actor is very good and does well, but the D and the producer in the radio station don't do well. They are OK but the emotion towards the end pushes past their range by the looks of it.

Overall this was a valid film, topical and not a situation that had crossed my mind. It is mainly delivered well with good drama but needed a little more polish to finish the job.
