“And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you meddling kids.” This is undoubtedly one of the most famous lines in the history of animated television and practically everyone will recognize it as the most famous phrase from the Scooby-Doo series. The phrase usually signified the end of a case when Scooby and the gang would explain the solution and prove that the guy they caught in the costume red-handed did it. The villain would then utter these words, cursing his ill-fated encounter with Mystery Inc., without which his plan would have succeeded, as it was otherwise perfect.
While the Scooby-Doo series is primarily an animated work, there have been live-action and CGI adaptations of the series as well. And while the CGI Scoob! movie was better received than the live-action movies, no adaptation has managed to come even close to the charm of the original animated series,...

Intimacy coordinators, basically delicate choreographers for sex scenes, are not new to Hollywood productions. But this may be a first.
For the Paramount+ with Showtime limited series “A Gentleman in Moscow,” in which Ewan McGregor plays a Russian aristocrat banished to a bleak hotel room during the early days of the Soviet Union, the actor told Britain’s Radio Times that the production still used an intimacy coordinator for one romantic sequence, even though his scene partner was Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his wife of two years.
“We did have an intimacy coordinator!” McGregor said, when it was suggested he probably didn’t need one. “It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the crew, and it’s odd to be naked in front of people, it’s odd to be intimate in front of the camera. If you were doing a dance scene, you’d have a choreographer. It...

During the February 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes sparked controversy by surrendering his WrestleMania 40 main event position to The Rock, leading to substantial criticism. Nevertheless, the narrative took an unforeseen turn during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference, injecting a notable amount of drama into the scenario. With that said, The Rock’s WrestleMania 40 plan might have been spoiled by a WWE Hall of Famer.
Cody Rhodes and The Rock
Fans have been eagerly anticipating a showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but not at the cost of Cody Rhodes’ storyline. Radio Silence (V/H/S, Southbound, Scream, Scream VI) returns to the big screen with Universal horror movie Abigail in April, and the film’s MPA rating has arrived this week.
Releasing April 19, Abigail has been rated “R” for…
“Strong bloody violence and gore throughout, pervasive language and brief drug use.”
Watch the official trailer for Abigail below, which is a bloody blast. The Don’t Breathe-esque setup introduces a band of criminals who attempt to kidnap a seemingly innocent young girl. Of course, the little girl turns out to be a vampire – a ballerina vampire, to be specific.
The cast for this one is absolutely stacked with talent, and the killer premise looks to have been executed by Radio Silence in the most fun – and bloody – way possible. It channels the spirit of their pre-Scream horror hit Ready or Not, and it promises to be a gory good time.

Tracy Chapman, who has not performed in public in years, will return into the spotlight to perform a duet of “Fast Car” with Luke Combs at the Grammys on Sunday night, sources tell Variety.
Combs, who had a massive hit with his cover version of “Fast Car” last year, was already announced as a performer on the show. Chapman’s appearance comes as a significant surprise, as she has only performed for the cameras three times since wrapping up her last tour in 2009, and the singer had thus far resisted the popular demand to take advantage of the resurgence of “Fast Car” as an international phenomenon.
Representatives for the Recording Academy could not be reached for comment.

The trailer for Henry Cavill and Dua Lip’s new movie Argylle includes two classic rock songs. One of them is Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.” The use of the song is flattering in one way, but it isn’t doing any favors for Elvis’ posthumous image.
The ‘Argylle’ trailer uses David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ and Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’
Here’s a summary of the Argylle trailer. It starts with a 007-esque spy dancing with a glamorous woman to David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” The scene is elegant, and “Let’s Dance” is an elegant dance song if there ever was one.
We then learn these characters are the fictional creations of an author named Elly Conway. In the real world, criminals feel that Conway is predicting their lives through their books so they target her. The tone of the film gets more comic and a remix of “Suspicious Minds” plays.

After Mayim Bialik‘s surprising exit as Jeopardy! host in December, it seemed like Ken Jennings would take on the regular syndicated show and the tournaments all on his own. However, that isn’t quite the case. Former champion and Inside Jeopardy! podcast co-host Buzzy Cohen has stepped in to lighten the load, hosting two play-in games for the currently airing Champions Wildcard tournament, which features brief winners from Season 39 plus the recent Second Chance winners. However, in a Jeopardy! first, Cohen’s episodes are audio-only and are available via TuneIn Radio. If you’re wondering why these episodes aren’t included in the televised broadcasts, well, there is a logical reason, as a user on the Jeopardy! Reddit forum explained. “There are more 1- and 2-day champs from Season 39 than there are spaces in the two 27-player [Wildcard] tournament brackets, so they had nine champs play in audio-only play-in games on TuneIn Radio,...

Broadcaster Audacy filed for bankruptcy today, a move blamed on plummeting advertising for radio.
The firm owns Kroq and Kcbs in Los Angeles and Wfan and Wins in New York, but the move is not expected to have any immediate impact on day-to-day operations. Audacy has already negotiated a prepackaged bankruptcy plan with its lenders, according to the Wall Street Journal. The lenders are expected to take over the company during its restructuring.
Audacy is the second-largest radio broadcaster in the U.S. after iHeartMedia. It has 235 owned radio stations across 48 markets
The Philadelphia-based broadcaster filed a chapter 11 petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Audacy is expected to reduce its nearly $2 billion debt load by roughly $1.6 billion, leaving $350 million of debt outstanding following the reorganization, according to a company statement.
A group of lenders will provide roughly $57 million in debtor-in-possession financing for the proceedings.

Natalie Portman had never seen a ‘Star Wars’ film until she was cast in the franchise. The 42-year-old actress played Padme Amidala in 1999 prequel 'The Phantom Menace' and its 2002 and 2005 sequels, and though she was “aware of the lingo” of the sci-fi world, she hadn’t actually sat through any of the original trilogy. She admitted to Radio Times magazine: “I didn’t know the films at all before I was cast!“I was aware of the lingo, as American culture is so immersed in ‘Star Wars’.“Even if you’ve never seen the movies, you know what Princess Leia buns are, what a lightsaber is, what a Jedi is, you know who Yoda and Obi-Wan are… you know all these words and names before you even see the films.“But I only saw the films when I was approached to do them.”Natalie can next be seen...

Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Shinobi are among the five Sega titles getting shiny new games in the future…

Ahem.
Overnight, Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2023 was the venue for the usual array of announcements and slick trailers. And arguably the one most likely to tickle older viewers’ nostalgia glands came from Sega.
It’s a trendy lifestyle-type promo, at first, with some annoyingly young people sitting on a sofa enjoying some time in front of an unspecified console. But… is that a Shinobi arcade cabinet implausibly located in the corner of their flat? Why, yes...

Ringo Starr is brushing off “terrible rumors” that he and Paul McCartney used AI to recreate John Lennon’s voice for their newly released Beatles song “Now and Then.”
The Beatles drummer addressed the issue in a new interview with AARP magazine about his life during and after his time in the iconic band and his reunion with McCartney to produce an unfinished track.
While Starr and McCartney, along with the late George Harrison, had teamed to release other demos featuring Lennon back in the 1990s, they had left “Now and Then” on the table after an issue with separating Lennon’s vocals from the instrumentals made it difficult to complete the track. That changed when the musicians worked with director Peter Jackson on the Disney+ documentary Get Back. During the process of producing that film, a new technology was developed based on machine learning, a branch of AI, that...

Though the renowned Dominican star Juan Luis Guerra has been making music since the Eighties, he’s constantly finding new inspiration. Sometimes, the ideas come to him when he’s looking back at his four-decade career: In fact, his new EP, Radio Güira, was partially influenced by a radio show he had years ago, as well as his longtime love of the güira, a percussion instrument that’s common in folk and popular music from the Dominican Republic.

In the podcast series’ 30th episode, Springsteen spoke with veteran musicians from the Freehold, New Jersey scene, including Mike Wilson, Mike Domanski, and Donnie Powell, members of the mid-’60s Freehold band the Legends, and Craig Caprioni, singer for the Rogues, Springsteen’s very first band.
At one point Springsteen posed the question, “After The Beatles, second favorite band? And we can’t count The Rolling Stones.”
After a short deliberation, Springsteen shared his list of favorite bands, saying, “It’s Beatles, Stones, Animals, that’s how my playlist goes, you know. Following the huge news last week that Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy had bought back his controlling stake in the company from Penn Entertainment, Barstool Sports is already making changes on the exec front. Barstool Sports has upped Barstool Sports New York founder Kevin Clancy, aka KFC, to Gm of Comedy at the company.
With Portnoy only recently gaining back a controlling stake in the company, Clancy’s responsibilities (and even his title which was given to him prior to the sale) could be changing over time but going forward he will be focused on expanding the company’s footprint in the comedy world, specifically in the stand up comic scene, in a much more hands on way. As part of this new position, he will also be helping several other podcasts, brands, and shows achieve the same level of success he and the other Barstool OGs have been lucky enough to see.

A relatively quiet year in our Grammy predictions has been livening up with a few major releases and announcements. With less than two months remaining in this eligibility period (which ends September 15), the race for Album of the Year is continuing to take shape. Scroll down for our graph to see how our odds have changed over time.
SEECould Joni Mitchell be the next Grammys Album of the Year winner?
Taylor Swift (“Midnights“) and Sza (“Sos”) maintain a sizable lead in first and second place, respectively. Those are two of the year’s biggest hit albums with a combined 16 weeks atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, and both are still in the top 10 despite having been released last fall. But are they really the top contenders to win? Swift has already taken Album of the year three times, so the recording academy might be reluctant to give her a fourth so soon.

Singer Elton John has said he does not want to perform at one venue in the US for a period of time but is not averse to the idea of a residency elsewhere. The 76-year-old singer won’t give up performing completely when his three-year ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour comes to an end this summer because he’s interested in being based at one venue, but has stated that when the time comes, he won’t be in the US.

Due to historical reasons, and some economic reasons preceding and following the historical ones, we should know by now that Iranian diaspora in the so-called Western World is large. Also, it is often well-educated and active in arts and culture, sometimes even on the both sides, in both homelands, old and new. Cinema is not an exception, but this list is not about, for instance, Asghar Farhadi working in the context of the French or Spanish cinema, nor is touching some well-established common places of greatness, such as Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis. We bring you five relatively recent films made by the filmmakers coming from the Iranian diaspora that might have flown under the radar somehow, in order of quality.

Danny Bonaduce’s Brain Surgery Was a Success, ‘Partridge Family’ Star Expected Home Soon, Agent Says
Danny Bonaduce’s brain surgery was a success, his agent Paul Anderson told TMZ on Tuesday.
The “Partridge Family” star, who was recently diagnosed with hydrocephalus, had a stent and a drainage port put in to relieve the pressure on his brain. Ahead of the surgery, Bondaduce said he hoped it would restore his ability to walk.
“From what I hear, if the diagnosis is correct, it’ll be 50 percent better right [away]. But I’d rather be safe than sorry. I don’t wanna get my hopes up too much that I’ll be cured … I will be completely bummed out if this doesn’t work. I can’t walk currently, I just can’t,” he said.

Max’s first full month without ‘HBO’ in its rebranded title has a selection that kicks off summer 2023 in fine fashion. Three of the four iterations of “A Star Is Born,” including the most recent remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, are streaming on Max in June. The 1954 and 1976 films land June 1, while the 2018 version arrives June 8.
To prepare for Margot Robbie’s performance in “Barbie” come July, one could watch one of her more intense roles as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya” (2017). For some lighter summer watches, viewers might consider “Dolphin Tale” (2010), “Grease” (1978), “Hairspray” (2007) or “Tooth Fairy” (2010).
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (2023) starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault lands at Max after its theatrical release in February this year. Another major theatrical release from 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), swims onto the streamer starting June 7.

HBO Max is no more. In its place are…HBO and Max. Warner Bros. Exclusive: Kevin Durand (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is the newest addition to the cast of the as-yet-untitled monster thriller that Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett are directing for Universal.
The actor joins an ensemble which also includes Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir and Dan Stevens, as previously announced.
In the vein of Universal’s recent films like The Invisible Man and Renfield, the Radio Silence thriller will provide a unique take on legendary monster lore, representing a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters. Universal monster films are rooted in the horror genre, with no restrictions on budget, rating or genre — and they are not part of a shared interconnected universe, which allows each to stand on its own. This new direction is filmmaker-driven, inviting innovative filmmakers with original, bold ideas for these characters to develop the stories and pitch them.
