Very strange indeed - but a must for Jill Hennessy fans

You've heard of Banned in Boston, well Ed the Sock is banned in Alberta.

This tape is a compilation of some of the best bits from "Ed's Night Party", a bizarre, low-rent late night talk show in Toronto that was co-hosted by a caustic sock puppet named Ed. The show started on local cable but soon was syndicated across Canada. Ed also became a popular veejay on the Much Music rock video channel.

The show ran afoul of Alberta's censors a few years ago when one episode showed Ed apparently having sex with a Playboy Playmate (I'm not making that up), and the plug was pulled.

That bit of TV history isn't on this tape. Instead, we have appearances by the likes of Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster, but all grown up and coming on to Ed), Adam West wondering what he's doing here, the redundancy of an appearance by Jerry Springer, a lengthy segment featuring the late Dana Plato, and Ed wooing and marrying a sexy blonde in Banff.

If you like bizarre TV, this compilation is highly recommended -- if you can watch this back-to-back with some episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, all the better.

The best part of the tape features beautiful Canadian actress Jill Hennessy, who at the time was co-starring in "Law & Order (1990)". Jill is a talented comedienne and singer, and her Alanis Morrisette-style love ballad to Ed is hilarious. Look fast for Jill's identical twin sister, Jacqueline, in the audience (believe me, you can't miss her).
