Hatcha! Whoopee! “Schmigadoon!” returns for Season 2 on April 7, 2023 with a darker tone. Unlike Season 1, which was inspired by golden age musicals of the 1940s and 50s, Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy transports the characters to “Schmicago.” The show will still be the humorous love letter to Broadway that fans adore, but this time it will be inspired by tuners from the 60s and 70s. “Schmigadoon!” picked up a few Emmy nominations, and even a win, when it was set in a colorful campy town. Will “Schmigadoon!” perform even better at the Emmys this year thanks to a lauded ensemble that pays homage to the likes of Oscar champs “Cabaret” and “Chicago”?
Season 1 of “Schmigadoon!” earned four total Emmy nominations. These bids include Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Music Composition, and a Choreography nomination for Christopher Gattelli. The show won a fourth bid: Outstanding Music and Lyrics for...

For the last two decades, Cinco Paul (along with writing partner Ken Daurio) was best known for writing big-deal family movies your kids were begging you to take them to. But all the while he had a musical percolating in his head, partially based upon a what-if set-up involving the backpackers of “An American Werewolf in London” entering a musical-scape instead of a horror-scape. And thus, 2021’s hit AppleTV+ series “Schmigadoon!” — starring Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key in a far less furry, significantly more comic version of the “London” scenario — was born.
Also starring a veritable who’s who of Broadway talent and borrowing liberally from the Great American Musical heyday of shows like “The Music Man,” “Carousel” and “The Sound of Music” among a great many others, “Schmigadoon!” proved popular enough for fans to demand a second season, which just wrapped and will be entitled “Schmicago!” Showrunner Cinco Paul...

The music branch of Emmy voters is not always impressed by big names. Take last year, when Beyonce, Cher, H.E.R. and even Bruce Springsteen had songs in the mix for consideration Voters ignored them, shutting out superstars in favor of composers and songwriters within the. World of TV.
What does that mean for this year’s race? Robert Lopez and wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who were early frontrunners last year and ultimately won with “WandaVision’s” “Agatha All Along,” return this time with another earworm, “You Are the Music” for Apple TV+’s animated comedy “Central Park.”
Anderson-Lopez came up with the essence of the song, in which Josh Gad’s character, Birdie, is feeling threatened by Rory O’Malley’s Elwood, who he feels is going to take his job. That motif plays alongside the bigger theme of the episode about competitiveness between Tillerman siblings Cole (voiced by Tituss Burgess) and Molly (Emmy Raver-Lampman). Ultimately,...

“I looked at it as an homage to all of my favorites,” explains Christopher Gattelli of his work on “Schmigadoon!” The Tony-winning choreographer was a natural fit for the Apple TV+ series which spoofs Golden Age musicals in every episode. “This was one of my favorite eras. I grew up watching these films,” says Gattelli, “so much of it was in my DNA.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
The musical series plops a struggling couple (Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key) into a fantastical, candy-colored town where all the citizens burst into song and dance. It was an opportunity for Gattelli to honor past musical theatre dance legends like Agnes de Mille, Jerome Robbins and Michael Kidd. The choreography is unique, not a simple recreation by any stretch, but Gattelli made sure to include certain moves that were linked to the past. Those moments are guaranteed to trigger an “emotional...

50 Cent has another creditor -- aka "Plaintiff" who is suing the rapper for brashly stealing his show idea. Larry Johnson claims he wrote a manuscript, "Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid," and in 2005, sent it to Nikki Turner, who works for 50 at G-Unit Books. He says the book was eventually published elsewhere, but believes Nikki showed the manuscript to 50. Johnson claims much to his horror, in 2014 Starz debuted "Power," Fiddy's show about a drug dealer who's trying to go legit.

Growing up in the Southern Baptist Church, I was sure of two things. One, if I believed Jesus Christ was the Son of God and accepted him into my heart I was a Christian for life. I still adhere to this, although I believe you do have to attempt to live by the guidelines given to us in the Bible. Next, Jesus was going to take all the believers in the Second Coming and leave us sinners to suffer the reign of the Antichrist in the Tribulation if I didn't. I also believe this to be true, although I'm not making any claims to knowing when or how it will all transpire.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Baptist denominations had a series of independent films they would circulate through churches, inviting neighborhoods to view what were dubbed the Thief or Rapture series. It was obvious that they were designed...

Another day, another piece of Nicholas Cage casting news! This guy is signed on to star in so many film projects that I'm starting to think that he's got a Cage clone out there helping him out. He's currently in talks to star in a faith based action thriller called Left Behind. The movie is based on a series of books written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with the End Times. It features a Christian eschatological viewpoint of the end of the world.
Apparently, this will also be a reboot of a film series already made that starred Kirk Cameron. I've never seen the original films or read the books, but from the research I've done on it it sounds like it will make for an interesting film series. It's easy to see Cage take on a project like this.
