Michael Bublé was great considering this was his first movie
jenntrider16 May 2007
OK, so this comment may be a bit biased because I am a huge Michael Bublé fan, who has even paid the whole 30 dollars to join his official fan club. A few fellow fans told me that the movie wasn't that great, and a few told me that it totally sucked. So when I bought the movie on ebay for 1.99, I had no expectations.I was pretty surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The lead actress wasn't that great, and so was a few other actors, but Michael made this movie come to life. His singing, and his acting. I mean, he wasn't no academy award winning actor in this movie, but he has the potential to do some great movies if he wanted to. Oh, and buy his new CD, "Call Me Iresponsible." The Album is amazing.

Totally Horrendous
Chrysanthepop11 May 2008
Alright, the only reason I watched this was Krista Allen otherwise I was expecting a horrible movie and it was pretty bad. Allen looks hot but I prefer her non-blonde look and her dress sense in 'Totally Blonde' was awful. I'll start with the good points of the movie. It features some very nice solo numbers by Michael Bublé. The chemistry between Bublé and Allen isn't lacking either. For a débutant, Bublé is okay but at times he's a bit too weepy. Krita Allen grossly overacts with the exception of a very few scenes and sadly, she doesn't go nude in this one. Maeve Quinlan is decent and the rest of the cast is unbearable. The atrocious writing is extremely shoddy and even amateurs can do a better job. I hope the director has now chosen a different career path more suitable for him because film-making is not for him. He should be banned. This is one hell of a crappy movie with only one or two good points. If you want to watch Krista's beauty, go get her Emmanuelle series but if you want to see her act, then try to catch the last several episodes of 'What About Brian'. For Michael Bublé's singing, his CDs are available. Avoid this junk.

Warning: Spoilers
I only picked a 1 out of 10 stars because there was no option for anything lower. I watched this movie because I caught a minute and had to keep watching to see if it got better. It didn't! I felt like my IQ had significantly dropped afterwords. The acting only intensified how horrible the story line was. The basic idea of the movie seems to be if you throw a bunch of attractive people together and have one of them sing it is worth making a movie about. I think that Krista Allen is beautiful but she was so whiny and oblivious that I was disgusted by her and dumbfounded at how being so stupid she could hold or even be considered for an executive job in advertising! That was the only funny part, by the way, of this supposedly romantic comedy. The only character worth watching was Van played by Michael Buble. He had the only role with sincerity attached and it was cheapened by the surrounding cast. Not only was the movie an insult to the general intelligence of the public it was completely unrealistic.

A really BAD hair day
scootrah3 November 2005
Here's sexy Krista Allen playing a woman asking the old question, "Do blondes have more fun?" She bleaches her hair to find out, and (surprise!) discovers who she truly is in the process! Unfortunately, the producers haven't hired a decent hairdresser so she can play the part of the blonde bombshell, they've just gone to Wal-Mart's Halloween sale and bought the cheapest and ugliest blonde wigs OF ALL TIME for her! Since there was no money spent on wigs, did they spend it on costumes? NO! Krista's outfits are cheap looking and badly fitted, but there is an obligatory scene of her wearing a thong to try and hold the interest of some viewers. Even Michael Buble's awesome voice couldn't help save this badly directed, mediocre script from a one-way trip to the outhouse. Learn from my mistake and run away from this dud.

What is WRONG with those guys?
thegentlesherpa26 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
UNREALISTIC. Both of those guys would be getting laid more than carpet in a carpet laying store. One has his own freaking nightclub and sings like Sinatra, and the other has his own surfboard company and volleyball abs, and they waste their time (and intercontinental flights) on a girl with fake looking boobs that wont decide what she wants for another 5 years? The 'wall of insane polaroid baggage' should of been a dead giveaway. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, bar none. It's a sick adolescent fantasy, that will do more harm than good in the world. If its saying anything, I expected it to turn into bad soft core porn the WHOLE time, and it didn't, which is even lamer.

Very poor writing highlighted by bad acting.
AngelCourt19 January 2005
Michael Buble' has an incredible voice, which is why I wanted to see this movie. He has a vocal quality rarely heard today, but in the future I can stick with his CDs and still appreciate his talent. I'm glad I got this movie from the library, so I didn't spend any money on theater admission or video rental. Very poor writing highlighted by bad acting. The story could have been much better, after a few re-writes: a good idea, even if a little thin, can still be made into a reasonable plot. Unfortunately, not all the blame can be laid on the producer, writer, etc. Many of the characters lack a level of development to identify with.

NOT Fully Family Friendly
kende316 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was dumb and contrite and I felt the need to comment on the last comment made. Although the film may be somewhat family friendly, there IS nudity and strong sexual content at moments. When entering the hotel to locate her boyfriend's room, Meg's shirt busts open without her knowledge. There she is for minutes standing in an open shirt with her scant purple bra. Not only do you see this, but the hotel staff continues to ogle her and make several sexual remarks. The main staff member then implies that Meg is a prostitute. After gaining entry to the room, sexual sounds are heard and Meg strips off her clothing to surprise her boyfriend. She is then in a bra and thong with a full rear view shot. Meg enters the room to see her boyfriend having sex, the woman being topless. This is by far NOT a family friendly film.

I must be from another planet
edwardmac2 April 2009
This film was light, funny, pleasant, without violence, had a great sound track and I genuinely liked it. Sometimes we have to lighten up and flow with a film, sink into it's simplicity and avoid getting stuck in those fault finding ruts. I don't care what others say, it gave me quite a few laughs and it made me feel good. Who cares about the wig and the silly Brad, what a great body she has and tastefully submitted too. At the end I had a very nice feeling and I was happy, which is more than I can say when I watch some of those so called 'A' movies. Some people take themselves far too seriously. Funny, but I didn't rate Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road or The Reader and definitely not Marley And Me(yuk). I wouldn't watch them again, but I'd watch TOTALLY Blonde any day and that's what really counts.

Story is simplistic but fun. good old big band rat pack music. Sex overtone makes it a no no for kids. dead pan humor and sight gags are good for a laugh or two. under rated movie and under rated talent in this one. the lead babe is worth the watch at lest she is a babe and a half. the movie lags at points and my not have know where it was going at points so i can see why it my not be liked. If you like Elvis movies, beach movies, chick flicks you will like this. about cast these people are tring hard they have talent and need there big brake and some deserve it. excuse spelling thanks for reading eddie dee

Totally Awful...
AMG20046 April 2004
I'm almost embarrassed to be writing a review of this film. It features B-movie/soft-core porn star Krista Allen in a farcical attempt at romantic comedy. The only highlight is the Sinatra-like singing of Michael Bublé, the male lead. His acting is very bad, but his singing is good. The acting of Allen is painful to watch, and I continually felt pity for her. The other characters don't do any better.

The script is atrocious, the interior sets look over-lit and low budget (especially the club), the photography is mediocre, the narrative flow is ridiculously compressed, there's no building on the theme of a woman changing her appearance to exploit a male preference (in fact, almost no comment on it at all), and Allen's character's behavior is so completely juvenile and immature that she becomes an obnoxious stereotype of the oblivious woman. This display erased any sympathy I might have otherwise felt for the character. Obvious attempts at humor were almost universally unfunny, and the soundtrack in many cases unsuccessfully tried to be jazzy (aside from Bublé's songs). The trite message of "Follow your heart" as the core of the film's plot had me rolling my eyes on multiple occasions.

I am convinced that Andrew Van Slee lacks any real talent whatsoever (how many readers are saying "Duh!"?), having now seen three of his films (I won't bother with any more of them). There are so many truly great romantic comedies available that no time at all should be wasted on this one (instead, run right out and rent "It Happened One Night").

Funny, Good Swing Music and Dancing, Beautiful Camera Work
davefetters11 October 2001
It's a "have-a-good-time" movie. It's not a musical but it has great music and dancing. It's a topic we can all relate to--which makes it even more fun. It's good clean fun. The actresses are beautiful and the actors handsome. Great camera work makes this movie as pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear--and funny bone. It's an ideal movie to see on a date.

not at all totally well-made, but SHE IS CUTE!
RavenGlamDVDCollector16 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There is just no way that this li'l flick can really merit the six stars I've awarded it. They all go to Krista Allen, though. Who plays against devastating odds: a poor script, very weak storyline, jarring distracting sideshow actors. It occurs to me that Mr. Van Slee had perhaps too much say in its making, perhaps with some external creative input? But Ms. Allan saved the day! Though I had the misfortune to like her in the movie, then to go read the reviews, and be negatively influenced by them. Yes, it is really not such a good wig, although when I first saw the movie, it all seemed just sexy. Another reviewer did point out how innocent the picture is with its absence of violence and this is very true. It does irk me a bit that most are so in ecstasy about that lame singer. Oh for crying out loud, us guys come to see the blonde chick and the show is about her and I LOVE HER! And to the Mother Grundie who pointed out that Krista was in EMMANUELLE IN SPACE: hell, if I looked like Krista I'd have stood naked in front of a mirror all day and possibly would have been in a little skinfest flick too! I especially love those bare feet going to the shower, the blonde makeover scene with her lovely decolletage, and the peace sign she gives the waiter as she orders two portions of chicken. But, yes, when watched the second time round, the wig should have been less of a permed look. It should have been free-falling, blowing in the breeze, if you know what I mean. Obvious thing about this movie is that is quickly loses appeal, like bubble-gum losing flavor. The second half seems trite. All sparkle is lost. You needed a better script. Oh yeah, and the overall film quality is poor. Did they use old stock to film it on? I imported the movie through Amazon, so it has got to be

the official version, but the image is not bright at all. Which sums up the whole plot. But blonde Krista is huggable! Ooh bunny! Had she not been in it, I wouldn't even have bothered with this review. Okay, Krista, will you come out to play now? Pretty please with pancake syrup all over it?

Totally Like Kinda Good!
Jim Sgambaty27 October 2003
Although this movie had it's flaws, "been there - done that" plot, a "very bad" blonde wig, and a direct to video feel....it was kind of charming and funny. It appears to me the movie was used as a launching pad/vehicle for Michael Buble's singing and acting talents.....what an amazing voice. Buble really sounds like Sinatra and belts out some great tunes......check him out on the "Down With Love" soundtrack too. Don't expect too much but all-in-all it was a satisfying flick! My score **

Great music, funny movie, great scenes!
jlevinepip27 January 2002
Fabulous music, a great story line, a lot of funny, unusual scenes, make this movie a hit. The movie moves along well, and the boy meets girl cliché is handled in a cute, happy wholesome manner that is appropriate for all viewers. Lots of hysterical, silly scenes, great music and a surprise happy ending makes the charm of this movie a factor for sure success.

A Surprise Hit
Dani-6225 January 2003
The title of this film might not seem appropriate after you watch the movie in it's entirety. Meg Peters dyes her hair blonde within the opening credits, and she never looks back. Only a few comments in the beginning are made about her change of look. After that, it doesn't really affect her as a person or in her relationships. She never wonders if the men she meets are only after her for the stereotypical image of a blonde bombshell. In fact, in the last scene, when her hair is back to her natural color, the guy she is with (I don't want to give it away) doesn't say anything about it at all. He never even noticed her look; it was the cheesy Hollywood romance of her physical appearance may have caught his eye in the beginning, but he loved her for who she was inside. Other than that, the film was a throw-back to the 1950s style - swing dancing and an attempt at physical comedy. Krista Allen doesn't match Lucille Ball in that respect, but she gives it her all and delivers a performance that is just exaggerated enough to make you laugh but groan with the thought of "what if there really are people this ditzy in the world?" at the same time. Her chemistry with her costars is great- she and Maeve Quinlan appear close, just like best friends. Michael Buble was a surprising talent. I was impressed at how well he could sing, and Brody Hutzler was the typical surfer dude- pretty to look at and that's about it. Colin Mochrie's cameos were great, but I think the best one was the one that was left from the movie and just shown during credits as a blooper. The film was beautifully shot, with only one continuity error and a few instances of an oddly large amount of headroom (nothing that keeps from enjoying the piece). Andrew Van Slee is a very talented guy, who seems to me to be a newcomer, but after this he's sure to go far. Plus it was nice to see Krista in a starring role. It's definitely a better film than Legally Blonde!

Great Music, good clean family movie, recommend to anyone.
wesbarlow24 January 2002
It is refreshing to find a movie that does not rely on nudity and sex to be interesting. This movie has great music and is fun to watch. The actors appear to have had fun in making the film which makes it fun and relaxing to watch. It's an enjoyable change from the usual TV fare of sex and foul language.

WOW Krista Allen + Blonde = Twice as Sexy
Clamps26 July 2005
Krista Allen and her smoking Hot Bod, Funnyman Colin Mockery's brilliant adlib'n and Michael Buble's Great voice all aid in making this light hearted, good hearted PG-13 Sexy comedy work. Blondes do have more fun, they are lusted after more (in the USA) and they get laid more. This film explores all that and a bag of BB-q chips. Of course if all you want to do is see Krista Allen is sexy outfits (inc a thong) than you MUST rent this film. IF you want to hear great ORIGINAL songs sung by M. Buble that you MUST rent this film. and of course if you want to see Krista Allen is sexy outfits (inc a thong) than you MUST rent this film. (did I mention that already??) Wow SHE IS HOT AND FUNNY, the kind of girl you take home and laugh you ass off as she lets you slap hers!! 8 out of 10 I LOVE KRISTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring on the Blonde Jokes!
ChrisASU29 May 2004
I thought that this flick was pretty funny, although it was filled to the brim with all kinds of jokes about blondes. I honestly think that Krista Allen is gorgeous with blonde hair, and I'll say that one of the funniest parts of the whole movie was the beginning (the Blonde school). I thought that Charlene Tilton's brief scene in the movie was really funny, especially when she got to the part about "Y'all go ahead and be dumb!" and so on. What really cracked me up about Charlene is her doing a Southern accent (I must add that she's really good at it because many women I've met here in the South talk very much like that, but I've met a few who talk rather differently). However, it seems that the rest of the movie went downhill after the first part. I think it's really sad when a movie's first part is funnier than the rest of it because it makes a person feel like he/she has wasted the rest of the time that the movie lasts. All in all, it's a rather amusing movie if blonde jokes and parody flicks are your thing.

Buble songs from movie available on DVD
akoebel3 April 2008
For those who enjoy only the parts of the movie in which Michael Buble sings, there is a DVD out there containing only those scenes. It's called "Totally Buble" and is a companion to a CD of the same name. Both have been denounced by Buble and his management, but IMHO the songs are not as bad as they let on. There are seven songs/scenes on the DVD but they're very short (That's How it Goes, Peroxide Swing, Me & Mrs. You, Love and First Sight, Anyone to Love, Guess I'm Falling For You, Tell Him He's Yours). But if you can find it in a bargain bin for a couple of bucks, as I did, it may be worth picking up. (At such a price I doubt the producers will get any money from it, so you needn't worry about supporting their actions against the artist's own wishes - besides, it's your money.)

BTW, here are Michael's own words concerning the Totally Buble CD and DVD, from his fan site:

"'Totally Buble' is not an album that I wanted to be released. They were songs I recorded for a film called "Totally Blonde" many years ago before I was signed to 143/Reprise Records. The decision to release it as an album was made by the film's producer, and I had no control over stopping him. It is important for everyone to know, that I only want to release quality music to my fans by offering my best work and I sincerely apologize if you purchased this album."

"You've heard from me in the past regarding my thoughts on the "Totally Buble" not being a true representation of what I do. I have now been told of a DVD that is out in the market with the same name and art work. I feel the same way about this DVD. The old expression 'Buyer Beware' has never been more appropriate. Thanks everyone."
