Avril Lavigne is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Let Go, with a new deluxe edition — out today — featuring six bonus tracks.
One of the additions to the album is Lavigne’s newly recorded version of “Breakaway,” a song she originally wrote for Let Go, but ultimately ditched (she gave the song to Kelly Clarkson, whose version became a hit in 2004). For the new version of “Breakaway,” Lavigne restored some of the original lyrics, which reference her childhood in Canada. (A lyric video for “Breakaway’ is available on Facebook.

Acclaimed composer Danny Elfman has released a new song, “True,” which will appear on his first solo album in 37 years, Big Mess, out June 11th via Anti-/Epitaph.
“True” is a menacing track that finds Elfman toying with grinding synths, booming industrial drums and blown-out guitar, while sharp strings give the song an even more sinister edge. “I got no destination,” Elfman sings on the track, “I just got termination/We talk about our harmony/We think about our termination.”
“True” arrives with an equally eerie music video directed by multimedia artist Sarah Sitkin.

Paul Feldsher, a former film producer, Miramax consultant and longtime friend at various points to both Annabella Sciorra and Harvey Weinstein, testified under subpoena in Weinstein’s rape trial Thursday that Sciorra drank alcohol and used prescription sedatives well before what he says the actress once referred to as merely a “crazy” sexual encounter with Weinstein.
Called to testify by Weinstein’s defense in an apparent attempt to discredit the actress’ previous testimony that her drinking and drug problems started after she was raped by Weinstein, Feldsher, a former ICM agent, presented a fairly unflattering depiction of the woman he once considered a very close friend.
Although acknowledging that he and Sciorra haven’t been in touch for seven years, Feldsher said he still cares about the actress and considers her a friend, then said that Sciorra used to joke about taking sedatives and that she’d once described the...

Harvey Weinstein’s defense team kicked off their case Thursday afternoon, calling a former friend of Annabella Sciorra’s to undermine her allegation that the producer raped her in the early 1990s.
Paul Feldsher, a former ICM agent and producer of several Miramax films, said that Sciorra was one of his closest friends for several years. He testified that they once took a long walk, during which she admitted having done “this crazy thing” with Weinstein.
“My understanding was that she fooled around with him,” Feldsher said. “I don’t recall it being stressful.”
Feldsher worked as a producer or executive producer on five Miramax films in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including “The Four Feathers” and “Get Over It.” He also acknowledged that the Weinstein Co. had paid him $60,000 for work he had done in 2016 or 2017 as a consulting producer on “The Upside.”

Ben Foster only knows one way of working. After working in Hollywood for over two decades, the rare child actor who managed to find his way to a compelling adult career has been reaping the rewards of long-term commitment. In recent years, that has included an Independent Spirit Award for his turn in “Hell or High Water,” a continued relationship with his most cherished directors, and a sustained level of intensity that might exhaust other actors but only seems to keep Foster more tuned in. He buries himself in performances to a point where, as he describes it, he’s not even acting in a traditional sense.
“For my job, the goal is to learn the thing, and then do the thing, and do it, and do it, and do it over and over until I don’t think about it,” Foster said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “You...

While awaiting the start of his rape trial in New York, on Friday Harvey Weinstein was served with his third class-action lawsuit from a group of his alleged victims. Three plaintiffs filed the new complaint — obtained by Variety — in Manhattan’s Southern District, citing three incidents that occurred in as many countries, between 1996 and 2011. Charges including assault, civil battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent supervision were filed against not only Weinstein, but also his brother and former business partner Bob Weinstein; their first studio, Miramax; Miramax’s first buyer, The Walt Disney Company; and board members from the brothers’ The Weinstein Company.
Caitlin Dulany, an actress who appeared on “ER” and “Ally McBeal,” claims she had a pair of unnerving encounters with the former studio chairman. In March 1996, Weinstein picked her up at her New York apartment for what she thought was a platonic dinner. She used the bathroom before they left,...

“You can be blasé about some things, Rose, but not about Titanic!”
Those words, spoken by the grandiose villain Cal Hockley to his dispassionate fiancée, Rose Dewitt Bukater, proved true both for the then-unprecedented ship and its fateful journey in 1912 and the record-breaking juggernaut film that told its story in 1997.
Twenty years after the film’s release, it’s hard not to see Titanic as an inevitable success: one of this century’s greatest love stories featuring two of today’s top stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, set against the backdrop of one of humanity’s greatest tragedies.
But before the film’s release, it was the subject of much scrutiny, with many mocking its premise, excessive budget and pushed release date. Before Rose and Jack ever made it to theaters, Titanic was nearly dead in the water, with two studios -- Paramount and Fox -- shouldering the financial burden of the $200 million budget, which at the time...

This is a very real petition taking place on Change.org. The consumers that are so outraged over the recent situation with EA's recently launched title Star Wars Battlefront II that they have created a Petition to Lucasfilm in hopes of removing the Star Wars license from EA completely. Following one of the largest game industry controversy situations immediately after launch, EA did agree to lower the cost to unlock the characters we all know and love by 75%, but that isn't enough for some.
At the time I am writing this up, the petition is at exactly 143,203 signatures (a few hundred, if not a thousand, are likely duplicate emails of the same person signing over and over). That means there are almost 150,000 people that are still upset with the developer even though they are trying to work with the community!
I think this is completely uncalled for and going out of proportion.

As someone who is deeply involved in the support and aid of Holocaust survivors, as well as making their voices relevant to this and future generations, I am compelled to jump into the controversy surrounding Larry David’s “concentration camp dating joke” on last Saturday’s “SNL.” Get over it, it was a joke. To those who came down on David with righteous indignation, may I ask: Where were you when the Trump administration omitted any reference to Jews in the official U.S. government statement on International Holocaust Day, just this January 27? When groups like the Adl registered their complaints to the White.

For a long time, it seemed as if Kirsten Dunst might be hell-bent on becoming America’s sweetheart at any applicable age. In her younger days, she appeared as the girl hero of two different movies, Jumanji and Small Soldiers, that were essentially about toys coming to life and wreaking adorable havoc on picturesque towns. “Pretty annoyed about the focus on the fact that I wear shorts and the commentary that I’m ‘squeezing’ into them or the idea that it’s not okay for me to wear shorts,” the 19-year-old actress began. “It’s Summer. Get over it. It’s hot, I’m obviously going to wear minimal clothes. I’m not going to suffer in a turtleneck to please anyone.”

Ariel Winter was once again compelled to defend her clothing choices this week, going on a self-described Twitter “rant” in which the “Modern Family” actress declared, among other things, “I am not a whore.” “Pretty annoyed about the focus on the fact that I wear shorts, and the commentary that I’m ‘squeezing’ into them or the idea that it’s not okay for me to wear shorts. It’s Summer. Get over it. It’s hot, I’m obviously going to wear minimal clothes,” Winter’s social-media jeremiad began. Winter was presumably responding to criticism of an Instagram photo...

Ariel Winter can fit into her shorts just fine, thank you.
The Modern Family star found herself defending her wardrobe choices (yet again) after posting a photo from a night out with her “squad,” when she wore a lingerie-like top and booty-shorts with knee-high boots.
After people started accusing her of wearing shorts that are too small, Winter went on a Twitter “rant” calling them out.

The year 2017 has been blowing by all too fast. Between the countless blockbusters that have been hitting theaters, and the many seasons of TV we’ve been treated to, it’s almost passed by in the blink of an eye. With that, we’re only a few months away from Season 2 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. The show itself hit the streaming service just under a year ago, and it took the world by fire, quickly putting the Duffer Brothers and its young cast on the map. With its mixture of Stephen King and Steven Spielberg, it managed to really resonate with a lot of audiences.
It’s faire to say that anticipation is high for this new season, and the filmmakers are almost facing an uphill battle now that the whole world is watching them. Luckily for them, they seem to be doing pretty darn well so far.

When I get actor and director Amber Tamblyn on the phone on Monday morning, she has her hands full. Metaphorically, because the first movie she directed, Paint It Black, is hitting theaters in just a few short days; literally, because she's stocking her fridge with breast milk for her infant daughter, Marlow. In the last 13 months, Tamblyn has somehow managed to finish her first feature film, release her third book of poetry, Dark Sparkler, welcome her first child, and take my call. I am impressed. Paint It Black revolves around the intimate, tense relationship that forms between Josie (Alia Shawkat) and her boyfriend's mother, Meredith (Janet McTeer), in the wake of his suicide. (Full disclosure: while I'd never met Tamblyn before, I do have a personal connection to this project. Janet Fitch, who wrote the novel Paint It Black, taught in my Mfa program and remains a mentor to me.

Just because Meredith Grey has returned to work, doesn’t mean the tensions on Grey’s Anatomy are eased. It’s the end of a lost battle, when you know that not only are you not going to win, but the purpose of your fight has been lost. All that’s left is broken pieces of what used to be trusted relationships. The things you used to be able to count on are burned, and opening yourself up to new avenues seems like a betrayal to the past. These are deep-rooted problems which aren’t going to be resolved easily, and may very well change

Rebecca and Josh will never have problems again!
If you actually believe that, you haven't been paying attention.
On Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 Episode 10 Rebecca brought Josh home to meet the Garfinkels, and while we're still not totally sold that romance is the right move for the teenage (summer camp) sweethearts, Rebecca's family is Totally Team Josh.
It's crazy, right?
Elsewhere in the hour, our heroine became enlightened for roughly 30 seconds, Rebecca's mom treated us to a little “Period Sex,” and Patty LuPone taught us about true suffering.
But everything isn't rainbows and soul train, right? Let's dive in!
First off, I need you all to know how excited I was that the Garfinkel Ring finally made a reappearance on the series.
For those who totally forgot Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 1 Episode 14, Rebecca pawned the family heirloom she earned from her mother in order to catch a flight to Hawaii to follow Josh.

Tom Cruise, putting a dimmer on his mega-watt smile, is back busting heads in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, once again playing the ex-military-cop-turned-road-warrior in defense of the disenfranchised. Critics were snotty four years ago when Cruise first played Reacher, because the 5'7" actor is the physical opposite of the six-five, 250-pound bruiser that crime novelist Lee Child created on the page. Get over it. The admirably defiant star, still a force of nature at 54, brings his own agility and quick wit to the role.

Over its 19 seasons and counting, “South Park” has almost always managed to create insightful parallels between scenarios otherwise considered unrelated. And it has certainly attempted that, with varying degrees of success, in every episode, and the comparisons are often as absurdly fun as they are astutely persuasive. So, it’s rather fitting that in kicking off its 20th season, “South Park” managed to tie together Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest, J.J. Abrams’ ability to create beloved reboots, the 2016 presidential election, sexist internet trolls, Matt Lauer’s inept moderating, Donald Drumpf’s secret desire to lose the election and, well, ‘member berries.
