An Emotional Experience
umpalumpaa25 March 2004
Having seen this film I can now say that my life is complete. The complex, and indeed entirely pointless storyline and character arcs of the subjects are displayed to the audience in such a way as to almost be called Brechtian! In no way did the shakey under developed sets and complete lack of acting destroy my brains ability to be completely fried by the storyline's staggering ineptitude.

I cried whilst watching this film, not from the emotion conveyed to me by the actors, but by the fact that clever, intelligent people who never meant any harm to anybody invented the technology that this has been preserved upon, for all time. Though rather like many other inventions over the past two hundred years, it hasn't taken somebody very long to come up with something horrifically awful to do with it.

I believe that this film is available to buy on DVD in stores up and down the land. I would recommend that you do not throw away your money this way instead do something more useful with it, like buying a litre of used engine oil and drinking it whilst watching Last of the Summer Wine and listening to Elton John's Candle in the Wind, again and again.

I said at the beginning of this review that my life was complete after watching this film and indeed it is. Now I can go through a back catalogue of films that I thought were poor, but now I am able to watch them in a new light. Thank you Ray Brady, now where did I put Remo Williams: Unarmed and Dangerous.

Far-out-there humour
fight24 July 2003
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a very strange movie, it kicks off lick a romantic comedy from the fifties, moves swiftly into serial killer territory, bounces between farce and surreality, to land in gritty noir murder and black comedy. I can say quite seriously I never really new what was coming next, eclectic and sublime! Ten outta Ten.

A good idea ruined? - SPOILER included
terrorisanF169 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
KKBB tells the story of a man who becomes infatuated with a girl he sees through the window. He chats up her best friend to get close to her then has her boyfriend and his new girlfriend bumped off. He bumps off the hitman and settles down with the object of his desire and before the end credits roll his eyes are wandering. The thing is that the above does sound a rather good idea, and as a treatment must have sounded great. The problem lies in the having a single Writer/Producer/Director. While this one man band (Ray Brady)had a good idea and did excellently to raise the (limited) finance the film has suffered from their being no counterbalance to his warped vision. The dialogue is less natural than George Lucas's worst excesses and is further impaired by some sketchy dubbing work - nor is there any member of the decidedly amateurish cast to lift their lines out of the mire ala Harrison Ford. Some good lighting work in small locations is undone by peculiar use of color with no regard to the mood of the film at that point.

Pitched as a light-hearted film it does veer briefly towards comedy with the appearance of Des Brady, the directors brother, as an unintentionally camp hitman. Any temptation to giggle is soon reversed by a torture scene which sends us back to the disturbing territory of Boy Meets Girl - the directors most (in)famous film. I gave this film a 2. Made by someone else it could get a 7 or 8.

What a great crazy movie!
judassnoop30 August 2002
Picked up this recent DVD release on a friend's recommendation. She was write it's very funny, a bit surreal with a great sound track. The story is nothing other than metal, a truly distinctive mind at work here. The film is vibrantly colourful and the characters though simple are well played and thought out. Particularily liked the Hitman character, very scary, very twisted. Hollywood would never fund a film like this. More the pity because it's funky and very original. Rent it, buy it, watch it. Your going to love it. In a word unforgetable!

A skillful combination of humour and action, wonderfully different
hall-910 August 2000
A great combination of humour and action, with several wonderfully unexpected twists, the cinematography is fantastic, with very dynamic hand held shots some very amusing camera angles. Saw it on video, didn't see it out in the cinema's? A clever plot, strong cast and London as you've never seen it before. Watch out for those creepy neighbours!

Silly fun and disturbing
oli-bis14 May 2004
Kiss kiss bang bang is silly fun and disturbing, bouncing between quirky humour and playful perveness. Set in some yuppie enclave in suburban London (Clapham?). Several warped and clueless twenty something characters go about their individual pointless lives blissfully unaware that a wolf in sheep's clothing now lives amongst them. When the scheming Machiavellian type gets jealous, mayhem, rape and multiple murders ensue as a psycho takes out and seduces the locals. Very strange but memorable soundtrack, some good twists and very funny banter, with a very memorable if sometimes inaudible hit man raises this well above your average tele-movie of the week. A must for all Russ Meyer fans!

Very funny
plinkerton_ip-117 May 2003
This black comedy was a great surprise rental, loved the DVD cover, kind of retro Italian exploitation circa 1970. The film proved to be just as wacky with bizzare plot changes and hysterical scripting. Their was the occasional dark moments, the assault on the flat-mate was horrid and the pervy temple to Angelica creepy! Throughly recommended for lovers of the strange and the off-beat. A million miles away from the Directors other hit Boy Meets Girl 1994, ripe for a Hollywood remake, very funny.

Very wacky
sarah-poll22 August 2002
Watched this film after watching the directors latest. What a surprise it's so very different, with my mouth open, jaw dropped, I sat through the strangest film I've ever seen. Right from the start it had me in stitches, its very funny, very weird. The music director must have been from planet Zog, but I loved it, never ceased to surprise me, especially the medieval bit. The horror story was totally f***ed up. Great characters, beautifully shot and edited. The whole film seems like some dodgey dubbed seventies Italian horror film. Great film, rent it or buy it and show it to your friends. Has cult written all over it.

Thought this would be dreadful, what a surprise!
a-sin25 September 2002
I read such contradictory comments on this film that I decided to check it out myself. I thought that it would be dreadful, what a surprise! Once you get your head round the kitchy Art Work that makes it look like some kind of seventies Italian exploitation film and the slow start, if you make it that far you're in for a treat. It is a very strange film indeed, the music is the first thing I noticed, the sound track seems to have been selected with a wry sense of humour, very tongue in cheek, very unusual, towards the end it had me completely hooked, don't know if the sound track is available on CD. The story is your classic boy meets girl and proceeds to go wrong and murder and mayhem ensue. Lots of very unexpected twists and very strange characters. Particularily liked the mini horror film scene, creepy and memorable. On the whole a highly enjoyable film. I can understand why it's had it's detractors though. It's quite insane and if you like your films logical and glossy this would be a dissapointment. I like the eclectic and the bizarre so Kiss Kiss Bang Bang get my highest vote. Ten out of Ten. More please!

toolbox-217 May 2003
Very silly movie with lots of great twists, didn't know what the hell was going on a couple of times but then found me way back. My son bought me this and said I would like it. I didn't like it I loved it, especially the fat drunk slapper. Not like any British film I've ever seen before. Ten outta ten. Bloody great!

a must see!!
scottb-531 May 2000
Where is this movie? I saw in on the opening night here in London and I have not seen it since in the Cinema or on Video. It's a real strange one with a few good twists and I really want to see it again myself. Also I think it is a MUST see for anybody who likes a film with a bit of "substance" to it.

Very weird, very different, loved it.

If you get a chance to get hold a copy of this movie show it to all your posse after a night out and they won't know what's hit them. Weird and very kooky, the sound track had me in stitches and the horror story came out of the blue, yuck! Good luck in getting hold of a copy though, I got hold of a preview copy doing the rounds.

Maria O Brien?????
mariaobrien734 December 2007
Please can someone tell me where to get this film as I am in it and have never seen it! By the way if you click on my link I am not that Maria O Brien as I was definitely not born in 1950!!!! Although sometimes I feel it. Please let me know where I can see it. It's great to see so many people have watched it and enjoyed it. I would love to know what Ray is up to and all the other actors or took part in the film and to answer a previous question, yes some of the film was shot in Clapham, upstairs in the 1oo pub which was cool 12 years ago and is probably as tacky sports bar now! So please let me know if you guys out there have any info cheers!
