A Big, Beautiful Bowl of Spaghetti...
Unicorn Equus6 March 2000
I am sorry that the only words that I seem to be able to come with today are cliche as this series does not deserve them. It is an excellent pot-boiler that starts off with a bang (literally - a police woman is shot by bank robbers in the opening sequence) and "The Jump" keeps on simmering throughout the entire series. Do not miss a single episode as there are plot twists everywhere and not one of them is predictable. After the policewoman is shot we meet a happily married young couple "The Brunoses" a successful builder and his devoted wife. He is implicated by informant and charged with the bank robbery and the PW's murder. Ultimately he is convicted of the crimes (although he claims to be innocent). When the informant turns up dead any hope of getting him to retract his story is destroyed George Brunos and his wife decide that the only recourse for them is to break him out of prison. And then it gets really interesting. I would highly recommend this to my friend Rhonda who although delightful needs to do something other than write beet poems. LOL

A BBC Blockbuster breakout
repfromhell8 September 2006
when books are read pictures ave vivid in the mind and a personal picture is created, no picture is the same but I am reading this book again as I have time to spare and only wish that I could see this mini series all over again. hardcore ferocious characters that blasts away any of the mainstream villains that can be observed on mainstream television series but bringing to life desperate lives pitiful creatures all with low life or no life futures thank you Martina I See where my life unavoidably is heading. Please more of the same for all the people to affiliate with may be to open the eyes of happy families in Virginia Water or the poverty stricken in Shadwell, but whatever you take from this mini series you will certainly take an eye opener from the action and writing of Martina Cole.

Excellent forgotten gem
searchanddestroy-17 December 2022
I found this gem when digging into my library, it was here since twenty three years, and myself did not remind it...It seems to be a miniseries from UK. A woman whose husband was arrested and sent behind bars for participating to an armored truck robbery with a police woman killed. She is convinced of his innocence and then hires some goons to release him by force from the jail. Nothing that exciting in this topic, but believe me, the cast is excellent, directing too, performances above average for this kind of TV stuff. Moving, surprising, never boring, despite its nearly three hours length. Many twists in this crime drama, and thriller too. I am not sure it is available now. I will continue to dig into the depths of my library and am sure I will find other gems that I have bought, copied or recorded over decades, there are thousands of them.
