the movie is great

Aloha there...

This is an awesome movie with a deep story that will make the user think at his life condition. I gave it a 7 only because the special effects are below Matrix. But in rest, who are we to question Terente's life condition. He had it all, a huge ****, a nice outfit, the brains, the look, but however, he decided to become an outlaw and fight for the freedom of his fellows. They had (the fellows) a pathetic life, living by fishing and eating all kinds of fishes every day. It was horrible. Terente took the situation in his hands, and decided that it is time for a change. Please don't hate this movie just because your ding is smaller then Terente's.

and I get to see one of the worst movies ever made. Terente, regele baltilor is a movie made after the legend of a real villain, Terente. The legend evolves more around the fact that he had a huge ***** and was somewhat a Casanova than that he was an outlaw. The film is filled with cheap sex, cheap bad language and cheap gore while the end is pathetic with him being shot by lots of police soldiers and fall without spilling one drop of blood.

the film is not up to the legend

Director Andrei Blaier spent most of his life and career during the Communist period, and when the regime changed after 1990 used the regained freedom to make a couple of films about the legends of the Romanian underworld in the 20th century. While 'Crucea de Piatra' focused on the end of the brothels district in Bucharest, 'Terente' happens early in the 20th century in Eastern Romania, where a famous outlaw lived kind of a Clyde with many Bonnies legend in the landscape of the Danube Delta which also belongs to the famous Romanian-French writer Panait Istrati.

Unfortunately the film is far from the legend. Although blessed with the presence of a couple of the best Romanian actors of the time (Ilarion Ciobanu and Gheorghe Dinica) the film suffers because of poor technical means (although only 13 years old the copy looks like 63 years old) but first of all due to superficial cinema and schematic dealing with the characters. Despite of the provoking subject the film belongs much more to the old and bad Romanian cinema than to the new one.
