Sex & Nudity

a obese naked man lays on an autopsy table naked (however shown from a distance)

a naked woman is tied to a bed (again from a distance)

a man has sex with a prostitute, but with a dildo attached to a razor. (OFFSCREEN)

Violence & Gore

The story is about a serial killer, so the whole thing is violent. Although you dont see any of the crimes take place, the aftermath are very bloody and disgusting.

A man is shown with bloodied hands from slicing off all his fingertips.

We see a man lying dead in a big pool of blood

A man is shot in the head and then is given many other post-mortum shots to his body. This is shown on-screen.

The sins are as follows:

Gluttony: An obese man is forced to eat, and eat, and eat. Once his stomach is full enough, the killer kicks him in the side, causing his stomach to burst. You see the man's dead and rotting body sitting at a table (his feet tied with barbed wire) with his face in food.

Greed: A lawyer is murdered. You don't see the body, but blood is seen on the floor of the crime scene.

Sloth: A man is strapped to a bed, where he lay for a year. His body was rotting away, even though he is still alive.

Lust: A man is forced to murder a prostitute by raping her with a razor-bladed dildo. Nothing explicit is shown; it is all implied. The man forced to commit the act does describe the incident.

Pride: A woman has her nose cut off. She has the choice of either living by calling for help on the phone glued to her hand, or by committing suicide by overdosing on the drugs glued to her other hand. In her pride, she commits suicide. She is shown laying in a bed, with blood everywhere.

Envy: John Doe goes and kills Mills wife by cutting her head off. He said that he was envious of Mills' life, so he decided to destroy it. The head is never seen; only a little bit of blood on the box it was in.

Wrath: Mills, in his wrath, shoots John Doe in the head. No graphic blood is shown, but you do see Doe being shot from a small distance. We do see a brief blood splatter from his head but nothing serious

Profanity

F*ck and its derivitives are said 74 times, and more sh*t and other profanites.

There are scenes of people drinking in a civilized way

Once again, the movie is about a serial killer, the whole movie carries a dark, menacing atmosphere. All the above crimes are very disturbing. One of the men they find in his apartment strapped to a bed appears dead, and much into the scene he wakes up and starts coughing the officers face. It has a huge startle factor and personally made me jump five feet off the ground. When the cops enter the killers home they find several disturbing 'soveiners' in his house, ie a hand and fingers. They also find several photos of him killing his victims.

MPAA:
Rated R for grisly afterviews of horrific and bizarre killings, and for strong language.
