Sex & Nudity

- Minor suggestive language, usually in the banter between the main characters.
- Characters make out in some episodes. Usually limited to passionate kissing and groping, but sex is not shown.
- Some scenes on the Babylon 5 space station take place in a seedy strip joint. The many girls, human and alien, are in minimal states of undress, but no nudity is shown.
- Some characters begin undressing before sex, but no nudity is show aside from bare shoulders.
Violence & Gore

- Various combat scenes involving gun fights, knives, swords, energy weapons, telepathic attacks, and military confrontations in deep space between fleets of ships.
- Minor and sometimes major characters are attacked and sometimes wounded. Injury detail is not very graphic, often a person would have a bloody wound or be covered in bandages in the aftermath of a fight.
- Numerous terrorist attacks and assassinations take place on and off Babylon 5. The bloody aftermath of these is sometimes shown.
Profanity

- Often characters will use mild profanities such as 'damn' and 'hell'. Often you'll get stronger curse words like 'crap' popping up every once in a while.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Most episodes contain scenes of characters smoking and drinking all around the station. Drug abuse is a theme explored later in the series.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- Babylon 5 is a slightly more dystopian series than other shows like Star Trek. There's constant tension between the humans and the alien ambassadors, as well as military conflicts occurring throughout the series' run. It's often tragic at times while exploring themes of loss, betrayal, personal demons, nationalism and redemption.
- As the series progresses, the crew of Babylon 5 finds itself pitted against an increasingly totalitarian Earth government. Themes of nationalism vs tolerance drive the remainder of the series, echoing our current times.
