Teaser Trailer: Salt

4 November 2009 8:27 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Earlier today, a Russian version of the Salt trailer managed to leak onto the Internet and it was quickly culled by Sony. I’m glad as it was worth the wait to see it in HD. On other sites, it’s been compared to a Bourne-style conspiracy theory but what do you think? I’ve embedded it below or you can head over to Yahoo to view in HD.

Salt Stars Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Andre Braugher and is directed by Phillip Noyce who has previously brought us Patriot Games and the Bone Collector which also starred Jolie. This means that Noyce is also no stranger to action as Patriot Games in my opinion was awesome and gave both Harrison Ford and Sean Bean a chance to shine. Check out the synopsis below then watch the trailer and you’ll soon see the similarities to the Bourne series. »

Angelina Jolie in New Teaser Trailer as Agent Salt

4 November 2009 5:42 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

I love salt, all types of salt really – Sea salt, table salt, rock salt and Evelyn Salt. Not familiar with that last one? She’s next summer’s female action spy played the ever so pouty-lipped Angelina Jolie. At one point, Tom Cruise was rumored to be attached to the Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, The Bone Collector) directed secret double agent yarn but ultimately, Noyce and company decided to go with a more feminine touch. Good move guys!

Jolie has proven time and again that she is the go-to woman in Hollywood for lead female action roles. Say what you want about the Tomb Raider movie, but as Lara Croft there can be no other woman playing the part. Same goes for her roles in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and last summer’s Wanted. In Salt, she appears to be just as convincing while playing a wrongly accused woman on the run. »

4 November 2009 3:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Angelina Jolie is at her best when she's acting like a badass. And in this new trailer for "Salt," directed by "Patriot Games" helmer Phillip Noyce, you definitely get to see her acting like a badass. Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who goes on the run after a captured Russian operative implicates her as a sleeper spy in a plot to kill the U.S. president. And then she dyes her hair jet black. It's hot. Watch the trailer.

Trailer for Angelina Jolie Thriller ‘Salt’

4 November 2009 2:06 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Sony has released the English language trailer for Salt, a spy thriller from director Phillip Noyce and star Angelina Jolie.  This is a deadly combination because of Jolie’s experience with fast-paced action (she actually replaced Tom Cruise when he backed out), and Noyce’s history of fun, charged flicks like the “Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan” films Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games.

Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star.

The script is receiving extremely high marks, including landing at #7 in ScriptShadow’s reader Top 25 list this week.  I’ll hopefully have my thoughts on the script sometime in the next few days, for those that are interested.

As for the trailer, it’s another Bourne-style action movie and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  I’m liking the brutal, hard-hitting action lately as long as directors can keep the camera still while it’s happening.

Salt Trailer Starring Angelina Jolie (in English)

4 November 2009 11:53 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Earlier this week, a Russian trailer for the upcoming Angelina Jolie action-thriller Salt found its way online, but was quickly pulled down by Sony... and really, who wants to see a low-quality, dubbed version of a trailer anyway? (A lot of people... I know.) Today they have debuted the first domestic trailer for the film over at Yahoo! [1], and although it looks fairly action-packed, I can't say there is anything all that noteworthy about it either. Is Angelina Jolie really the biggest current female action star? It seems weird to say that, but I guess her filmography proves it. Either way, I'm sure they're hoping to attract fans of Wanted with this one. The production history on Salt has kind of a weird twist in that Tom Cruise was originally supposed to star in the lead role (and not in drag). Somewhere along the way they rewrote the story so »

Updated: Angelina Jolie Goes Bourne in Domestic ‘Salt’ Trailer

4 November 2009 8:45 AM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Remember back when we reported that Angelina Jolie was coming on to the project known as Salt, taking over for Tom Cruise and forcing a re-write of the script to change the title character's name from Edwin A. Salt to Evelyn A. Salt? This is that film, and it doesn't look half bad. Essentially, this trailer shows the film to be Jason Bourne, but with a way better body. Evelyn Salt (Jolie) is a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. When she is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy, Salt goes on the run to clear her name and ultimately prove she is a patriot. Using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative, she must elude capture and protect her husband or the world's most powerful forces will erase any trace of her existence. It's clear that this would've been a cool role for »

Russian 'Salt' trailer: Angelina Jolie heats up cold war

4 November 2009 7:32 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The first peek at Angelina Jolie's Salt has a serious Russian accent. That's not just because Jolie plays a CIA officer who may or may not be a a Russian sleeper agent (shades of No Way Out). The first online trailer is actually for the film's Russian release, so have fun with the dialogue, apparently dubbed by Nikolai Volkoff. The film's action transcends any language barrier, nyet? Director Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games) seems to be borrowing heavily from the Bourne films, and Jolie has a solid track record as an action star (though her Matrix-climb-the-wall-drop-kick at 1:41 was rather »

'Where The Wild Things Are' Author's Blessing Gave The Film Freedom

'It gave Spike [Jonze] room to create and to try to find something new,' Forest Whitaker says of director collaborating with Maurice Sendak.

Hollywood history is overflowing with sad tales of storytellers unwilling or unable to share their vision with someone else. And when you look back on barely speaking "collaborators" like Mark Steven Johnson and John Irving ("Simon Birch"), Tom Clancy and Phillip Noyce ("Patriot Games") or Zack Snyder and Alan Moore ("Watchmen"), it's no wonder that such unusually matched folks had trouble finding common ground. Much like the classic children's tale "Where the Wild Things Are," however, the behind-the-scenes story of Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze had a happy ending.

When now-81-year-old Sendak originally published his beloved tale of a boy named Max and his adventures, it »

Chris Pine will soon be all over the big screen. The "Star Trek" actor is keeping himself really busy, and now he's even in talks to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan in Paramount's upcoming franchise reboot.

Not much is known about the project at this stage, but Variety says Pine is already in negotiations to play the character in the film based on Tom Clancy's novels. Hossein Amini wrote a script draft.

Of course, this is not the first time Ryan appears on the big screen. The character previously showed up in "The Hunt for Red October," "Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger" and "The Sum of All Fears." »

Just yesterday we were chatting about Chris Pine, and I said that the Star Trek actor could easily become the next Matt Damon if he chose the right roles. Well, ladies and Fandango freaks – it looks like Pine will take another step closer to the "Next Matt Damon" status I predicted as Variety tells us the guy will star as CIA analyst Jack Ryan in Paramount's reboot of the popular action franchise that once starred Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck as Ryan in films like The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears. The character himself is based on a series of Tom Clancy novels.   It's been known for awhile now that Paramount was looking to go younger with their Ryan reboot, with names like Ryan Reynolds and...

Chris Pine In 'Serious Talks' To Reboot Jack Ryan Role In Tom Clancy Films

14 October 2009 2:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Star Trek" star Chris Pine appears to have lined up another new job this week, in addition to nailing down a starring role in D.J Caruso's "The Art of Making Money." Pine has already reshaped William Shatner's role as James T. Kirk in the "Star Trek" franchise. Now it looks like he'll be stepping into the shoes previously worn by Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck as Tom Clancy's hard-nosed CIA analyst Jack Ryan. Pine's name floated out as the potential leading man to revamp Clancy's novels, such as "Patriot Games" and "The Sum of All Fears" for new releases, and Paramount has now confirmed his status as their pick.

Chris Pine Could Be The Next Jack Ryan

14 October 2009 10:28 AM, PDT | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

Chris Pine is hot stuff in Hollywood right now without a doubt, after his turn as iconic Starship Captain, James T. Kirk in this year’s Star Trek, and the young actor seems to have writers, directors and producers falling at his feet.

So it should come as no surprise to FilmShaft readers that Paramount Pictures are in negotiations with Pine to play the part of CIA analyst Jack Ryan, in a reboot of the series based on the Tom Clancy stories.

The character of Jack Ryan has had a rocky Hollywood career at best. Should the deal go through, Chris Pine will join a who’s who of Hollywood actors who have previously brought the character to the big screen – Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) and Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears).

Chris Pine to Become Jack Ryan?

14 October 2009 8:33 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The Tom Clancy books focusing on CIA agent, John Ryan that spawned movies, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears are all in my list of all-time favourite action movies. The books that Clancy has written were all be converted from the page to the screen brilliantly. They’ve also had excellent casts with high profile actors playing the lead role of Jack Ryan.

Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck have all played the part and today, Variety are reporting that next to take on the lead is Captain Kirk…. I mean Chris Pine!!

The movie has no name as yet but the two books that haven’t yet been made into movies are ‘Red Rabbit’, about a plot to kill the Pope; and ‘The Cardinal of the Kremlin’, where Ryan is still a CIA analyst working his way up the ranks. »
