A Substandard Action-Comedy
Uriah4325 November 2023
In the process of suffering eternal torment, two demons--one male and one female--manage to escape from hell and transport themselves to Hong Kong with the intention of carrying out an agenda that will grant them almost unlimited power. To that effect, after first inhabiting suitable bodies, they then prepare to kill 49 people born on two special days with one of these days designated for perfect masculinity and the other for perfect femineity. And although they are quite successful at first, they soon find that their last couple of victims named "Philip Kao" (Kun-Hsuan Huang) and "May Liou" (Asuka Tamami) are under Taoist protection and will pose greater problems than either of them could ever realize. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that, after reading the abbreviated storyline, I was somewhat curious as to how this action-comedy would turn out. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed due in large part to the low-brow attempts at humor which failed on each and every occasion. It just wasn't that funny. Of course, it's quite possible that some of the humor was lost in translation due to the fact that it was filmed in Cantonese while I only had English subtitles at my disposal. So, that could have been the problem. Even so, I just wasn't that impressed with this particular film, and I have rated it accordingly. Below average.
