Good idea let down by a mostly shoddy production.

Watch the first 15 minutes for a really great World War 2 commando operation and some interesting plot twists. At that point, switch off and keep the good memories. Maybe the money ran low or the tropical setting took its toll on cast and crew. Whatever the reason, most of this movie is plagued by low production values, a rapidly deteriorating script and hammy acting. Ernest Borgnine's performance led me to wonder if Captain Binghampton from McHale's Navy might also put in an appearance. A great pity because the core idea of a German plan to attack the USA with a secret weapon was at least plausible - until it fell into the wrong hands!

Warning: Spoilers
Only just watched this. I thought it was an excellent movie for its time. Gritty and unpredictable. It highlights the brutality of war and the civilian costs. The characters are well written and take you from liking to disliking and back again, a realistic portrayal of human nature... David Soul plays a ruthless German naval officer on a mission. I felt that he played it well and to his usual high standard of acting. He has a natural ability that draws you in to his character.

Sadly only able to watch it on YouTube and the quality is poor. I can't find the dvd and it appears not to be available on any other streaming service. Would watch it again should it become available on Amazon or Netflix etc...
