Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

( PG-13 version, which is called "the outsiders, the complete novel")

dally asks cherry if the same "beautiful" red hair she has is the same on her, then stops, and then after a second says eyebrows, which may be a sexual reference, but the joke is semi-hard to get. she doesn't answer.

Violence & Gore

( PG-13 version, which is called "the outsiders, the complete novel")

at the beginning of the movie , pony is jumped by some greasers, knocked to the ground, and threatened. but is eventually saved by his fellow greasers. the greasers then chase the sos's car, trying to taunt them.

when bob sees two-bit, pony, and johnny with his girl and his girls friend, he begins to try and start a fight, and two-bit flips out his switchblade, but cherry solves the conflict by leaving with bob.

darry has an argument with pony, yells at soda for supporting pony, and hits pony (which is implied but i couldn't see.

dally, pony, and johnny return to the church to see that it's on fire (although that is stupid to consider violence) they rescue kids in the church, but johnny is hit with some falling wood (not much and no way violent), as he tries to get out, so darry gets him.

there is a rumble with soc's and greasers fighting, not too bad for kids though.

dally can't TAKE THE SORROW of johnny's death, which is often argued about the reason why he does his next thing, although it IS the reason. dally robs a store, and is later shot about 4-5 times, no more than 5, by cops.

bob tries to drown pony by pushing his head in a fountain, but is stopped.

johnny is implied to have stabbed bob in self defense, and to save pony, but the stabbing is not shown, the screen just fades to black during the near drowning of pony, but johnny states that he killed bob, and they show bob lying on the ground, not moving.

Profanity

The language basically consists of shits, wise-asses, smart-asses, asses, damn

Young greasers and others smoke cigarettes throughout the movie and drink. There are several different references to smoking such as the phrase "Cancer Stick" and other comments describing a young kid being drunk. There is a brief scene of a bar party.
