The rapper Drakeo the Ruler, born Darrell Wayne Caldwell, had a wide, ready smile and was said by friends and family to have had a good heart. The 28-year-old musician, who was fatally stabbed last Saturday in Los Angeles, often rapped about the grisly realities of life in America’s inner cities with a wit that transcended what others have achieved with the medium.

This TV genre suffered a scandal in 1950s that nearly wiped it off screens, but endures as one of the most popular programming types today. Now, the history of these shows finally has a physical home of its own.
What is… the game show?!
The first quiz show launched on radio in 1923; now, nearly 100 years later, the National Archives of Game Show History has launched at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y. Veteran TV producers Bob Boden (“Funny You Should Ask”) and Howard Blumenthal (“Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”) have co-founded the archives and will curate the collection.
Boden and Blumenthal are aiming to acquire materials and records from game show professionals, such as producers, performers, directors, designers, writers, executives, and staff members. They’re looking for items like scripts, set designs, props, technical plans, marketing materials, creative plans, production plans, and more. The...

We always watched “Jeopardy!” in my house when I was growing up. We watched Art Fleming do it when Don Pardo was the Vo. We used to play the home game. Later, when Alex Trebek hosted, my brother was on the show and lost, which was hilarious. He’s a comedian, and the Final Jeopardy! category was “Comedians.” And he lost.
So it was always a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Trebek was a great host because of his confidence. You could easily be a smug jerk in that job, knowing all the answers and reading them off cards. But so rarely did he do that. He was so unassailably nice. That’s what was fun about Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds hating him so much in the “Celebrity Jeopardy!” sketch on “Saturday Night Live” — not really hating him so much as just wanting to fuck with him.

Deadline brings us some very sad news today, as Alex Trebek, longtime host of popular quiz show Jeopardy!, has passed away at the age of 80 after a brave battle against cancer.
As you may know, the popular TV personality had stage 4 pancreatic cancer and went public about it back in March 2019. Despite his illness, he was still under contract with the series until 2022 and continued to do tapings and make media appearances while fighting for his life.
Also having hosted such shows as The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare, High Rollers, Battlestars, Classic Concentration and To Tell The Truth, Trebek was a popular and celebrated figure in the world of television, earning 31 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host and winning 7 times. Not to mention he also received a Peabody Award for “encouraging, celebrating and rewarding knowledge” and, of course, inspired millions with his battle against cancer.

Alex Trebek, the longtime host of television quiz show Jeopardy! who inspired millions with his brave public battle against pancreatic cancer, has died. He was 80 and died at home, according to a spokesperson.
Trebek had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and went public about his condition in March 2019, updating fans on his condition via social media and frequent interviews.
Trebek became host of Jeopardy! upon its revival in 1984. He was under contract until 2022, and pressed on with tapings and media appearances throughout his illness, saying the interactions with the show and his fans were helping him cope.
Jeopardy! recently began Trebek’s 37th season as show host. Earlier this year, he was aboard for the show’s high-rated “Greatest of All-Time” tournament on prime-time television. The tournament was won by Ken Jennings, whom some have speculated as the host who will take over from Trebek.
Trebek-hosted episodes will air through December 25th.

“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek passed away on Nov. 8 and left behind an amazing legacy. We’ve compiled a list of nine interesting things you probably didn’t know about the longtime television personality from a new biography written by Lisa Rogak called “Who Is Alex Trebek?” out now from Macmillan Publishers.
He was a troublemaker in his youth
In his teen years, Trebek was sent to a Catholic boarding school after his parents separated. There, he was nearly expelled over disagreements with one of his teachers.
He nearly became a priest
In college, Trebek considered becoming a priest and went so far as to spend a summer at a Trappist monastery. But it was the vow of silence that changed his mind. He later said, “I’m not one to keep my big mouth shut.”
He’s a clean-freak
After quitting his job of 12 years at the CBC, he moved to Los Angeles.

Trebek had been courageously documenting his life with cancer after being diagnosed in March 2019. He attended the TCM Classic Movies Film Festival in April of that year, giving a heartfelt and emotional introduction to the feature “Wuthering Heights.” He celebrated one year of fighting cancer — prognosis for survival after 12 months is usually 18% — in March 2020. Because of the global health pandemic, and to protect Trebek, the game show filmed without audiences before production was suspended indefinitely.

I really have to hand it to the producers of Gotham for taking a character such as The Mad Hatter – who hasn’t appeared in live action for nearly fifty years, mind you – and giving him his due by making him one of the primary focuses of the first half of season 3.
Next week, expect Jervis Tetch’s reign of terror to continue as his tormenting of James Gordon takes a hallucinogenic turn that is somewhat reminiscent of Mad Hatter’s sequence in the video game Batman: Arkham Origins. As we the viewers wonder if Valerie Vale will survive the operating table, it appears that Gordon must brave the darkest corners of his own mind if he hopes to defeat his deadly new nemesis.

This weekend Kim Kardashian showed off her bowling skills on lanes that are nicer than the nicest apartment we will ever have. The reality star made the trek from New York to Connecticut on Saturday to host the opening of Foxwoods Casino’s “High Rollers” bowling center, and possibly to flee drink-throwing crazies. She looked amazing in a gold Leger mini-dress, but we’re pretty sure those heals aren’t regulation bowling shoes. The fact she was able to get down the lane without mishap in that outfit leads us to believe that this girl knows how to roll. Doing it in a mini and stilettos takes a lot of (bowling) balls. Never one to skip fashion for comfort, Kim Kardashian was spotted bowling in her signature Glamazon heels and an itty-bitty minidress this weekend. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star hosted the opening of the High Rollers Luxury Lanes and Lounge at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Ditching typical bowling attire, Kim bowled in sky-high Christian Louboutin heels and a skin-tight gold minidress. Sure beats smelly bowling alley rental shoes and jeans! What do you think of Kim's bowling outfit? Check out more photos and share your thoughts in the comments.

Kim Kardashian isn’t letting last week’s scuffle in a New York City nightclub -- in which a drunken female partygoer doused the reality TV starlet with water -- turn her against the city. On Friday, less than 24 hours after the brouhaha, Kim remained in love with New York as ever, telling TooFab of the upcoming SoHo outpost of her clothing store, “Dash NYC is going to be high stylish, chic and just fun!” And Kim acknowledged that New York’s the place to be for Dash: “We’re excited to be opening a boutique in the fashion capitol of the U.S.!” The following day, on Saturday, Kim and three girlfriends headed to Connecticut, where she hosted the opening of High Rollers Luxury Lanes , the new bowling facility at Foxwoods Resort Casino . So, did Kim wear bowling shoes? No way! She paired her gold Herve Leger dress with...
